ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry soon after resumption of charge following his reinstatement has set up 3 special benches to hear the cases lying pending due to hearing of constitutional petition against the presidential reference** and these benches will also work during the holidays. **
He will preside over first bench while the other members of the bench are Justice Rana Bhagwandas and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.
The second bench will be headed by Justice Javed Iqbal and third by Justice Abdul Hamid Dogar. Supreme Court (SC) sources told 3 benches have been constituted at Lahore to facilitate the people. These benches will hear the cases, which are lying pending due to hearing of constitutional petition against the presidential reference.
These three benches will start hearing the cases from Monday and chief justice of Pakistan will also hear the cases from Monday at the bench he would preside over.
Justice Iftikhar is nothing if he is not a workoholic and a no non-sense judge. Just watch a re-incarnated CJP go through the backlog. :chai:
Re: CJP sets up 3 special benches to hear pending cases
He has been hyperactive since the day one. But the most interested thing now to see what will happen once Nawaz and BB file their pleas to get back to pakistan safely.
Re: CJP sets up 3 special benches to hear pending cases
a commendable move. court cases in pakistan drag on for years for no reason. corruption is rife with the milli bhagat of lawyers and judges who can drag on a simple case like havign squatters empty a house for a decade. I hope CJ iftikhar chaudhry takes notice of that as well.
