things were very different in the 50s, 60s, and 70s from what i hear from my elders. we had a much more open & tolerating society under the influence of the british, and this probably reflected in a more respectful behavior towards women. things changed with the dawn of the 80s.

is it true only for Pakistani society or equally applicable for other countries (India, Iran, Afghanistan, Bangladesh) also
