**At last eight civilians have been killed when a roadside bomb hit their vehicle in eastern Afghanistan, officials say.**The vehicle was travelling through the Khogyani district of Nangarhar province on its way to a market when it was hit.
There has been no claim of responsibility as yet but the Taliban frequently plant explosives on main roads across the country.
Nangarhar, which shares a border with Pakistan, is comparatively secure.
But the Taliban have been known to offer pockets of resistance in the area, correspondents say.
“Eight civilians, including one woman, were killed in the roadside bomb explosion,” a spokesman for the provincial governor’s office, told AFP news agency.
