Sybex (Todd Lamel’s) book got me through CCNA just fine. I found some free SIMs online and that was enough. More here(ccna tips/notes)
TB, practise router commands if you are too used to PIX. Their labs are tougher now, i have seen a high failure rate among my colleagues and they all blame the labs. If you can answer the review questions in Lamel’s book at the end of every chapter, then you can assure yourself 100% in the theory questions; i say thats around 75% right there. The passing % is 84, so labs will give the final verdict.
heard of CBT nuggets? They are very good in my opinion. I used one for the CCSP SND prep and it really helped. I'm working on the CCSP SNPA exam using CBT and ofcourse you have the Cisco web site for further reference :D
TB i just cleared SND yesterday, and SNPA couple of weeks back. now I am a Cisco Firewall Specialist.
my experience with the exams says that Knowledgenet books are the one from which the whole exam is made. (Knowledgenet books are those which Cisco gives you if you take training from any authorized training center.).
for CCNA, i felt that many of the questiosn were from the practise questions of Sybex 5th Edition TOd Lamle's book..
So you just just need Sybex 5th Edition for the CCNA.
and Knowledgenets for the other professional exams. and u know where to find them :).
about the PIX and the routers, then dear, you have to come out of it. PIX has a new OS, and its like the router IOS. Like the interface commands. in PIX/ASA version 7, the interface options are defined in Sub-interface way, like the other router stuff. So its more like it. I would really recomend that you do a study and upgrade your PIX to version 7. . I replaced my PIX hardware with ASA box. and the OS is pretty cool.. specially the ASDM, it has got some good features.
anyway TB, you need anything, u just tell me, or else you know the place.
I had completed my ccna and ccie written exam way back in 2001. Retook my CCNA in february.
Now I have completed SNRS as well as IPS exam and should be able to complete the full course in first quarter of 2007.
For CCNA, I would recommend CBT Nuggets as well as Lammale's book. You dont really need a router simulator to clear ccna but if you have one than that helps. Go for boson's test preparation question as well as Test King's. They are good.
CB, u’ve already been tons of help on the material. I still haven’t had a chance to get thru the material. That’s always been my issue, too many thing going on at once. hoping soon. Maybe i should move away from all the distractions, but I don’t know where to go.
what about really heading MARS for sometime. dude you know, how I did it. I sent my family on a long vacation, and that was it. peace and harmony all the way. finally, have done waht I was planning to do for like 20 months
Nothing to mind about. I was thinking that too, but I think I want to do it more cuz of having it, and it would help me force to learn it. I still haven’t taken the exam tho, so I don’t know if its going to happen or not.
kuch nahee yaar ... It just reminded me of the days when I first got in touch with some baba G via chat ... lol ... I was put in a somewhat similar situation
Ok, I'm wondering how a 86 years old man can be so active...
Certainly it is because of your clean atmosphere and working habits in US/canada, otherwise most of the people in Asian countries do not reach at this age. If few ones are there, then atleast they are unable to have such technical activities.
Yo ma shizzle, this be the shizz, I was talking bout, coz I want to take up a certificate too, & be the king, & have that SLR I've been craving for. I love ya tofi
