Shareen do it before it does hurt him.

Mohel is good. Thats what I used. My doctor recomended mohel. Babies penis was bloody a bit. I didn't want to watch..but you know? it didn't hurt him.

When I changed his diaper and noticed his bloody penis, the first time I saw it, I was afraid to touch him because I was afraid I might hurt him. But I had to touch him. I had to make sure he was clean and put antibodies, and vaseline on him and it healed in about a day.

And you know? he never even cried when I touched him there. It didn't hurt him. And I didn't hurt him when I cleaned or lubricated him.

I was just wandering, people that convert to Islam at a late age, is it compulsory for them to get curcumcised, if they have not been?

i've heard some muslims in africa etc circumsize girls as well. ... is that in islam? or something made up by those cultures?

No, that has nothing to do with Islam (in my opinion, as far as i know). That's made up of the influence from local cultures. Has nothing to do with Islam as far as i know. Incidentally, many Christian families across Africa also practice this.

Yes it is. Although my husband is half pakistani, he was raised Church of England. However when he converted to Islam he had to be circumsiced, aged 22.

Update - Harris was circumcised on monday and is absoluteley fine. The procedure was very quick, we only just got to the waiting area and the nurse bought him out to us. Didn't seem in any pain, slept for ages afterwards and there wasn't any major bandaging which I had expected so luckily he can still wear a nappy.

Also for some bizarre reason the doctor gave us the foreskin in a jar which I'm not entirely sure what I'm meant to do with.
