In the UK they don’t do it immediately, within a week or a month or so, I think. Altho when my BIL and SIL took their newborn, there was also a 5yo there. Poor little guy! I think in some places it is done much later, up until puberty. I don’t know the reasoning.

But I think here in the US it’s usually done right in the hospital, if you want to.

In the UK it’s down to the parents to organise when they have their baby circumcised as it’s done privately, which is why different babies have it done at different ages. Most parents try to arrange it as soon as possible after birth though.
