Anyone have experience of the process to have a newborn boy circumcised in the UK? It is no longer offered on NHS and is not done in the hospital. Are the private clinics safe? Is there any clinic that has the better reputation?
It all seems very scarey because you don’t know who to trust! I know in Canada it was available at the hospital but have no idea about the procedure here in the UK and would appreciate some advice. thanks.

The only experiences that I know of are through those of close family and friends who have had to pay to have circumcisions performed privately - the NHS will only perform them on medical grounds now, not religious grounds.
One of my friends had to take their son to a private clinic but the majority seem to pay for the doctor to come to their home. Haven't heard of any negative experiences of this - you do get a qualified doctor who usually carries out many of these procedures.
The best way to find someone suitable is either through word of mouth or by contacting your local mosque.

^Agree.. I've never heard of any scare stories about dodgy doctors or clinics in the UK. There are plenty of places who will do it or doctors who will come to ur home.. if u ask around should be easy to find someone suitable :)
Please don't leave circumcision late tho, my brother didn't have his done till the age of 9ish and it was a total nightmare for him..

BIL and SIL took their son just last year, to a private place. He was about a week old then.

we had to pay 20 odd years ago and we went to a private clinic...for all nephews no problems no scare stories...
luton was the closest desi area for us...

Aye theres plenty of private clinics who will do the Job I got my whippers done the other day at Bupa in Solihull. :)

I will try and get the details but there are a small group of muslim doctors that will perform circumcisms free of charge if you have it done within the first 40 days, it's too late to ring my mom now but I will try and get the info for you tomorrow.

I don't live in the UK, so I can't offer any help as to where you can find a doctor that will perform the circumcision. But please make sure that before you pick a doctor, you've researched them and have asked them the exact way that they will perform the procedure. Different doctors have different ways.
Also, please make sure you go to someone that is certified to do this. It's such a delicate area, that you don't want anything to go wrong. If you aren't happy with any of the Muslim docs that you've found, my second option would be to go with a Jewish doctor, as they also perform circumcisions as it is mandatory in their culture too.
