I dont know if its opened yet or not, but there is this new chain of cinemas that are supposed to open up in Karachi and then afterwards the plan is to open them in other cities across pakistan. They plan on being a totally Hollywood-movie showing cinema.
Re: Cinepax - the Pakistani moviegoer's experience
really? I dont know - I think that if this thing opens up in some place like The Point or The Forum, then hell, I'd go. At least I'd check it out - I'm sure the prices will be jacked up enough that the usual chichora movie-goer crowd cannot go.
Although that would increase class disparity, now, wouldn't it?
Re: Cinepax - the Pakistani moviegoer's experience
this is definatly needed as lollywood films are now imrpoving and with 5 biggies to release this year (pehla pehla pyare, koi tuj sa kahan, khuda ke liye, imran maliks next and ajab guls next) there are decent cinemas needed,
Re: Cinepax - the Pakistani moviegoer’s experience
The Lahore industry has been shouting for over a decade now that “we are on the verge of a cinematic revolution”. They did come with with a lot of good films, but not anything revolutionary or which would change the course of cinema in Pakistan. On the movies you’ve mentioned, Ajab Gul makes horrendous crap, the director/actress associated with Koi Tujh Sa Kahan has such an awful rep, its kind of scary to think the film she would come up with. After Ali Zafar opted out of Khuda Ke Liyey that film is in limbo. The only hope for now is the Mubasher Lucman film. And I think that film a little “off” [with the drinking/dancing/skimpy outfits] for the Pak masses to accept, though personally I am looking forward to it. At the moment, they ought to make low budget, experimental flicks with loads of new people [or “new talent” as we like to say], which recover the money. They should use these new chain of theatres to build some following. And save Pak cinema in the process too
Re: Cinepax - the Pakistani moviegoer’s experience
a shoaib mansoor film is never in the limbo, doesnt matter who opts out of it. :nono: :nono: :nono:
and how can you say Ajab Gul makes crap, he has only made one film so far and it was a super hit, it was a copy of perfect murder but it was much better then indias copy of perfect murder humraaz.
plus also a new film city is now being made which will be 70km from lahore in shiekapura and would take 2 years to build.
also ppp is releasing on may 13th, make sure you check it out. but it should have allreay released but was delayed thanks to the dumb maullas of mma. let hope nothing happens now.
Re: Cinepax - the Pakistani moviegoer’s experience
Someone change the title, this debate is going wayyyyyyyyy off topic!!
Suhaib, Shoaib Mansoor’s * Yeh Baraf Humaree Hai* has been in limbo for the last 5 years. It’s another story it was shelved a couple of years back .
Khoey Tum Kahan was BS. The first half was worth barfing over. Maybe that cheap humor actually appealed to you; it was even beyond the Lahori theatre level. He ruined the brilliant music by picturising the songs so crudely - and employing such a God awful paindoo jaahil, whatever you call him, choreographer.
I think the Lahori effort has been done with for now. Over to the Karchiites please…
The mullahs may have a good point or two. They ought to have been a lot more vocal about those beyond belief vulgar movies in Punjabi.
Re: Cinepax - the Pakistani moviegoer’s experience
the film was shelved for a reason not because it was in the limbo, the film was anti indian, and cos of the improving relations between india and pakistan he did not want to make the film any more
you thinking it was BS does not make a film BS. The film was loved by the audience. It was a film that saved pak cinema. it came out at a time wen pak cinema was totaly dead. anyway kyun tumse itna pyare is a hugly awaited film in pakistan and people are confident he will repeat the success of khoey ho tum kahan
