Need a sure sign that Timur Bekmambetov has become quite the busy man since making the move from Russia to Hollywood? I no longer need to look up how to spell his last name. He’s been producing a lot lately, but it looks like he’s finally settled on a new directorial project: an adaptation of Peter Ackroyd’s novel The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein. By my memory, this marks at least the third, relatively high-profile Frankenstein project to get the green light; the other two being Guillermo del Toro’s tentative Frankenstein re-imagining and the very cool sounding monster-as-P.I. flick* I, Frankenstein*.

Magnolia Pictures has picked up Stateside distribution rights for The Extra Man](http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3id278df2dbdc3bfc8099799f5766aaa1b), a Sundance 2010 debut directed by Shari Springer Berman based off Jonathan Ames’ novel. No precise theatrical release date is set, but late July is the target.
