Recent developments have taken place to help with revival of cinema:
-
The punjab govt finally scrapped the 65% entertainment tax on cinemas.
-
Sensing that Karachi is fast becoming the central hub of entertainment in pakistan, Chairman of Evernew Studios Sajjad Gul has finally opened an Evernew Studio in Karachi. The aim is to produce more dramas in Karachi and encourage Karachi’s budding filmmakers to make films with latest technology.
-
Surprisingly, the pakistani film industry has a Code of Ethics but was obviously ignored. New proposals have been made to update the rules and ban vulgarity and glorifying of criminals in cinema.
-
Due to high demand, more cinemas are opening in cities. An international standard cinema called Cinestar has opened in Lahore. Cinepax is opening 2 multiplexes in Karachi.
Im hoping that this is a sign of good things to come…
