Re: CIA Report Finds American Dominance Ends in 15 Years
I agree that India & China belong in that group of countries classified as super-powers...
If not yet concidered actual super-powers......are definately on the way.
U.S. political policies toward Middle East perhaps partically to blame.....
I think U.S. unbalanced trade policies with China and U.S. outsourcing of jobs to India also responsible.
Heck......Lets blame corporate greed....
Re: CIA Report Finds American Dominance Ends in 15 Years

Re: CIA Report Finds American Dominance Ends in 15 Years
I'm not quite sure how people believe that a growing economy in the EU, India and China is antithetical to US interests.
Lets assume that the leaders of those areas/countries don't loot all the economic gains or direct the gains to a protected minority RICH and PRIVILEGED class. Lets assume they do the right thing and direct the gains to the improvement of the standard of living of the millions (in Chinas case a billion ???) of pathetically poor and destitute who live there. Of course, those gains are all being derived from implementation of capitalist economic principles.
So we end up with wealthier and happier people in India, in former communist Eastern block countries, in China and elsewhere. The US, comparatively speaking, is not as economically powerful as it once was. Exactly what part of that scenario spells doom for America?
When economies work and free markets flourish, it seems to me the US interests are advanced. These countries become more stable and less likely to become radicalized. I can't really think of any military tyrants or despots coming to power in modern times in any country that had a flourishing economic environment that improved substantially the standard of living of its people.
The real worry for the US is not China's rapid economic growth. The real worry will come when the unsustainable growth bubble bursts and China, in particular, suffers its first post-growth depression.
Re: CIA Report Finds American Dominance Ends in 15 Years
the pie is not getting smaller...idiots can't figure that out. The nature of value and wealth creation is changing. Some get it, like china, India, US and our pet poodles in the EU and some don't. You have a choice...you can blow up a car and a few people inside it and around it or you can go and make car parts. Guess where the muslim world stands to lose.
Re: CIA Report Finds American Dominance Ends in 15 Years
Spot on Matsui. The threat comes from non-involvement in the capitalist wealth creation system. Our interest is served by increasing the level of participation in that system and seeing others able to create wealth and improve living standards.
Re: CIA Report Finds American Dominance Ends in 15 Years
Before the bust the boom may cause oil prices to reach $100.00 a barrel if a Goldman Sachs report is right. The limiting amount of resources should be the real worry.
Re: CIA Report Finds American Dominance Ends in 15 Years
Look, Oil prices have fluctuated for 40 years wrt real wages...shortages, embargoes etc.. It is always the capacity of the buyer that keeps them grounded, say an inflexion point of pain, from which problem start appearing. and in that scenario, it hurts both the buyer and the seller. American inflexion point is somewhere around $3.50-75/gallon of gas.
Another point that a lot of morons ( I use this term for them as one of endearment, I have another which won't pass the censors) keep harping on is the trade deficit. Let me put it to you this way, Should you account for trade deficits the same way as you did before the service economy took hold and golbalization became the paradigm that it is?
Think about it...

^ point by myvoice difficult to oppose.
<~~~Definately not economic or global political guru....and likely one of the morons myvoice refers to...:)

<~~~ Not a number cruncher either....wish I was so that I could verify the numbers....
I don't remember having had a problem with the price of gasoline until recently...
^ if above $ chart is correct....I suppose I shouldn't complain to much...
Though I would suggest the interstate highway speed limits be reduced back to 55.
