This is definitely a possibility but we cannot be sure until we see the result.
They have been trying hard to move the Iranian regime for the last few years. last year, a small protest movement was portrayed as an “uprising” by the West. We can clearly see how much they are frustrated with Iran. So Iran could be the point.
We must also not forget the recent series of revolutions in Central Asia where the winning candidates were openly backed by the west. That has some resemblance with the current situation in Middle East.
