Though I don’t necessarily agree with Lajawab but I disagree with you as well, there are different types of “prayers”, one you can say ANYTIME you feel like, also called “dua”, then there are “mandatory” prayers (actually “salaat” is the real word which loses its meaning in translation) which you have to “plan” and say when required.

Ok, I should have preceded my comment with “planned” prayers which are no different than the “planned” grief during a funeral.
