Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
How can you say it's all an act? Loud wailing doesn't necessarily mean sincerity.

Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
^^
No, but it surely means spontaneity...Grief and happiness are best expressed when spontaneous, not rehearsed and planned...
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
Have you seen those “aunties” that can spout an ocean at the drop of a hat…
Too much genralization going on here. ![]()
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
^^ i have aisha...at my grandma's death.
i have seen an aunt shreik like a banshee when all she did while my granma was alive was backbite and make her life hell...and then when the food was being served she had her plate piled high and was gossiping about who was wearing the tightest outfit....
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
Death of a loved one is a very sad event, but i do agree many desis, especially Punjabis behave odd. The women i mean, they suddenly throw away their head scarfs, shout at full power and their arms widely fling.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
I beg to differ. It may be planned at times as to how to carry out the funeral. However, the grief, pain, and loss are all real. It hurts them just as much it hurts us when our loved ones pass away.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
that’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. Do you view christians as some sort of sub-human life form incapable of true emotions?
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
^^ No but the way you guys do your funeral, forces us to think that way.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
There is beauty in sobriety too. I would admire a grief stricken person who can still smile. I would think no less of a person who is wailing. There is no one way to express grief and happiness.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
“Gora’s” have the same emotion as non Gora’s… it was not washed out of their make up as their skin bleached over ther years.
Yes, perhaps they have a different way to grieve…it doesnt make them heartless.
you really think different skinned people love their mummies and daddies less than you do yours?
Mr 50 point something percent, your teacher was young…its very sad
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
Perhaps that is just opinion since many people feel prayer is best expressed when spontaneous and heart felt while others feel rehearsed and planned prayers are the better option.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
Though I don’t necessarily agree with Lajawab but I disagree with you as well, there are different types of “prayers”, one you can say ANYTIME you feel like, also called “dua”, then there are “mandatory” prayers (actually “salaat” is the real word which loses its meaning in translation) which you have to “plan” and say when required.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
Very well said :k:
Its our misconception, our media at fault who takes one bad incident from “west” and makes a molehill out of it making “western” people look like robots/emotion-less.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
That is one of the most stereotypical and ignorant statements I have ever read. The color of your skin determines how emotoinally attached you are to people?? I suggest you meet more goras to open your mind.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
Ok, I should have preceded my comment with “planned” prayers which are no different than the “planned” grief during a funeral.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
I have met them. I live in Texas in a small town of rednecks. What do you expect?
I still stand by to what I wrote earlier. I didn’t want to generalize but the way they do their funerals forces me to believe that they don’t have any grief of their loved ones passing away. I mean who in his right mind feels like dressing up in nice suits for death of someone. An average funeral in US cost $ 5,000. Goras have become so materialized that they are compelled to spend thousands of dollars in a funeral even if they can’t afford it. Funerals have become commercialized like every other occasion of theirs like Christmas etc. Why can’t they bury their dead relatives with simple funeral? Why everything has to be so immaculate in their lives including funerals? That’s beyond my understanding.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
^^ bhai jee we have aunties complaining about how bad the pulao was at so and so's death....
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
Gora weddings can cost thousands of dollars too, does that mean there is no love or sincerity in their neptuals? I agree that commercialization has invaded most aspects of American life but that in no way takes away from the sorrow and sadness most feel when a loved one dies. Most feel that the extravagence and nice suits show respect toward the departed and do not detract from the grief they feel.
Re: CHURCH FUNEREL vs DESI RONA PEETNA !!!
I think it doesn’t has to do with christianity and islam..it is about environment. Here people are not THAT emotional. Like in our family, (we are christians)…when we had our grand father’s funeral here…we cried and all but weren’t that emotional because we believe soul is in heaven already..no use of crying..coz after they are in better place with god.![]()
