I cannot let it go because if I dont have something to eat all the time, I feel weak. I dont eat full meals, I eat small things all day long. Fasting is really really hard for me but I try.
The thing is, I finally got a job and its a desk job. When I walked in, I saw SO many seriously obese people; it scared me. I know its because of lack of activity and bad eating. I cant let myself go down that road.
Im already a curvy woman and in the process of losing weight. When I was home, I could control my food intake really well. But at work, when I get hungry I have to eat something…anything…right away otherwise I feel like Im going to pass out. And yes, I have passed out before…once about 5 - 6 years ago. Ever since then, I keep candy or a tiny pack of cookies with me all the time. When I get that light headed feeling, I pop something in my mouth right away.
I need ideas on what to keep with me in my bag or purse that is healthy but energizing.
The key is to PRE-PLAN you're munching.
If I wait till I am hungry and lightheaded, I will eat anything.
The only way I over-come this if I already plan it out. For example , make a couple of snack bags the night before, containing stuff like nuts, cut-up fruit etc. Also, keep gum with you.
And try to sip on water all day long..
Also keep in mind to give our body atleast 2 hours after every snack or meal so that it can process and digest the food.
Good luck!
Mixed nuts
Dried fruits
Seeds
Pot of yoghurt
Tub of fruit salad
Try to up your intake of water/juice, as this will help you feel full and fill that gap in your tummy. Maybe make a smoothie and sip on that during the morning at work, have your lunch and then snack on some nuts or dried fruit until you get home. Then have your evening meal. Carry on snacking in the evening if you need to with yoghurt, nuts, or another smoothie.
They say brushing your teeth helps to stave off hunger pangs. You could try it, if you don't mind doing so at work. Instead of munching, try drinking. Water that is :p It'll keep you fuller so you're less inclined to over-munch.
You said you like to keep "candy" or "cookies" in store. Substitute these goodies with munchies that are more healthy. For example popcorn (without butter) and pretzels are low in fat. Nuts will work too. How about dried fruit such as raisins, dates, dried apricots? Dried fruits are more nutritious then fresh fruits and also more filling. How about veggies and hummus? The fiber in the veggies and hummus will keep you full. Could stress be an underlying cause? Sometimes we snack because we're worried about something.
