Also, I have a take on calling Christmas part (at the office), a holiday party...

In any IT office of USA where 90% workers are indians, its very common to have Deewali party, and no one objects. If in my office, 90% of the crowd is Christians, and they want to have a Christmas party, why should I have ants in my pants on that.

Hannukah falls around the same time as Christmas. Hence an Office Holiday Party, Holiday sales, Holiday lights.

But a Christmas tree is a Christmas tree, just as Hannukah Menorah is a...Hannukah Menorah.

That’s true. It was an attempt to sell pizza in schools under the ‘vegetable’ label since they banned sale of junk food and soda in schools.

Congress declared the sauce to be a vegetable, not the entire pizza. That was to subsidize for the price of the pizza and continue low cost lunches in schools.

I am sorry to say but Hanukkah is just riding on the popularity of Christmas. They just wanted to tag along. There was no Hanukkah party/sale till like only a decade ago. General population did not even know it till Adam Sadnlers sang his song in Saturday Night

Well the US believes in a separation of church and state so it makes sense. And Christmas in the West has become mostly a commercial/festive affair rather than a religious affair.

Besides, the Dec. 25h holiday is based on the winter solstice anyway, which is a pagan holiday. Jesus was born around Easter, I think. The Romans just made Christmas the same date as the winter solstice because it would be easier to switch religions (not kidding).
