Christmas buffet

Each year my work place organises a Christmas buffet and everyone is required to bring a dish (or few).

I’m stuck for ideas on what to take this year.

Last year I took, salmon and potato fish cakes, pakoray and potato pattees (puffs). Any suggestions on what to take this year? It does need to be finger food though. I’m also making food for my husbands Christmas nibbles, whhich are the day before mine, so it would be helpful I could just cook everything on one day for both.

Please post recipies.

Re: Christmas buffet

Once I made guacamole, spinach, red pepper and chicken wraps, but into one inch pieces and upturned on a nice tray. They looked really good and went down well.

You could get a bag of frozen samosa's n fry them, that's easy.

Re: Christmas buffet

I have seen over time that Tandoori Chicken is very well received in such parties.

Spring rolls

I cant bring myself to eat buffet food - all those uncleaned, germ infested hands - esp when you know the habits of co-workers (eg not washing hands after using the toilet!)

Re: Christmas buffet

^ Halwa, those wraps sound yummy. Post the recipe, please

Finger sandwiches

quiches

Stuffed pastries (samosay, spring rolls, etc)

Chips and dip

Bread chips/wedges with hummus

Cheese sticks

Jalapeno poppers

Potato skins

stuffed mushrooms

stuffed grape leaves

Stuffed dates (stuff them with cream cheese/whipped cream and an almond)

minni pizzas

shrimp cocktail

How about bruschetta? It’s just slices of french bread with diced tomatoes on top. Here’s a simple recipe:

Here’s a recipe for potato skins. Substitute bacon with keema, lol.

Re: Christmas buffet

wow a lot of options! thanks, though I'm not sure I can do some of them as the food will need to be pre-cooked and then re-heated in a microwave. What are Jalapeno poppers?
