Christmas and lightings

Near christmas season I love all those decorations and lighting, all the houses look so pretty I usually drive my children to our neighborhood and we see all those pretty houses. Well my point is why we don’t do these things on eid we should do that.We should make our children happy too, they are kids and they need to be happy :hmmm: I don’t see those things in Pakistan or middle east or am I wrong?

Re: Christmas and lightings

We used to decorate our apartment in CA for Ramadan and Eid , then the manager objected citing some clause in the renters agreement.

Re: Christmas and lightings

We do decortate our house with lights on Eids. Its usually very light decoration and mostly on one main window and foyer area but we still do that.

Re: Christmas and lightings

I am too lazy to do that.

I recall that on Eid, Shab e barat - they light up the neighborhoods and major monuments 9train station, big mosques) in Lahore and people decorate their houses with dias and what not.

Re: Christmas and lightings

In my home city, in the city centre and in predominantly pakistani areas there are usually a few eid mubarak decorations up. At home we never even thought about putting anything up! May try and make this a new tradition next Eid :)

Re: Christmas and lightings

Me too.

Re: Christmas and lightings

we do that too...when i remember. do that for independance day too. so for a couple of days our house is the only house with lights up in the middle of the season hehe

Re: Christmas and lightings

my brother does that for his children, he puts up lights, and tell thems we are decorating the house, and putting up Eid lights. the kids get very excited about it. And he has bought them pajamas that they call their "Eid Pajamas", and the night before Eid they wear only those pj's. I think its a good way to get Muslim children excited about Eid (especially living in the west) because they learn so much about x-mas at school and from TV, but then dont get/do anything for Eid.

Re: Christmas and lightings

Just enjoy the Xmas lights/season as the Holiday season if you are so stuck up on religion.

Why bring Eid into it? Eid has it's own traditions and fun. Does Eid really need to copy from Xmas?
