Christian perspective of End Times

Re: Christian perspective of End Times

I doubt that one can consider that the following has occured yet:

  1. Second coming of Jesus Christ (some people like the Jehova’s from the Watchtower Society hold tha he did come but are just not made known)

  2. The Anti-Christ and Prophet referred to in the Bible is specific persons (some people believe it will be systems rather than persons). There will be many that lived “in the spirit” of the Anti-Christ (and the Bible refer to them as anti-christs) but the two persons referred to has specific qualities that none yet has attaines/fulfilled.

  3. If you hold to the Pre-Millennianism theory, yes. They hold that we presently live in the 1000 years and that most of the book Revelations is now in the past. Unfortunately for them there are just too many problems/inconsistencies for their theory to hold true.

  4. If Jesus Christ hasn’t come a second time, how could the final confrontation happen?

  5. Surely the Final Judgement hasn’t occurred yet?

  6. Surely we don’t live presently with Jesus as King with Satan unconditionally and permanently taken out?

No, I believe all above items still to be future. I am talking from a Christian perspective though. I do though believe that we presently are in the final endtimes and are witnessing some of the things prophesied coming into reality.

Have you read Revelations? Funny thing is that most Christians prefer not to read it as they think it is “too hard to understand”. Those that do read it, sometimes get hooked on the ideas and go overboard.

Old man,

I must admit I haven't read the bible for many years. However even though the whole end times business seems to be repeated throughout the monotheistic tradition it's always difficult to get a coherent chronology of events.

At the time of the second coming how do we know everyone will get it, i.e. how is it to be made obvious and absolute to all in the Christian tradition for example?

And again satan and his rule are really relative and notional concepts, yes I believe we're in the beginning of the final judgement but yes signs of end times have been with us for a long time.

I'm sure the advancing golden horde in the 13th century would have put the fear of judgement day into many. Yet here we are 700 years later, still thinking it's imminent. Of course I believe it'll happen and believe in the signs but this could go on for a million years………………….. or of course come to a head tomorrow.

PS. Satan 'permanently taken out'? Who'll look after us poor souls in hell then?

Re: Christian perspective of End Times

There is this series going on NBC, every wednesday at 9 pm EST called 'Revelation'. It is about the end of times from Christian perspective. I thought I'd share it. I really liked the first part of it. It's gonna continue for six weeks.

Thap, I believe that the best is to always be ready!

Many prophecies were only understood AFTER the event. Many debates are still happening in the Christian community as to which prophecies has been fulfilled and which not. For certain the people were shaken by the “golden horde” as they were during other instances/calamities as well. There was even a Christian group that sold everything and was ready for the Second Coming of Jesus during the 1800’s!

Even though no-one knows when the hour will be, I believe that as the Day get’s closer, it will become easier to predict the hour. Similar to Noah when he started building the Ark. When he started, obviously the hour was still far away. As he started to finish, people should have realised it was close, and when he took the animals in, it was imminent.
