For Muslims and Christians, the antichrist is the Dajjal and for Jews, their messiah is Dajjal? Help me understand, someone. Also, what if someone doesn’t believe in hadith, then is all this antichrist and Christ coming stuff not true? For those who only follow Quran, how is the world supposed to end? And do neoconservatives and, say, the Israeli government actually believe in this christ / antichrist stuff? Fascinating.

sarah ... nobody believes his messiah to be the anti christ, however everyone believes in an antichrist type figure and believes the other two sides to be awaiting the antichrist.
if one only follows the Quran then I dont know of any reference to dajjal or imam mehdi. someone could correct me here.
im not sure if the israeli govt does believe in the messiah stuff, although they are right wingers i think.

For jews the 'anti christ' is gonna come and slaughter jews. For Muslims and christians CHRIST is gonna be leading an army of followers against the ANTI CHRISTwho will have a lot of jews in his army, and thus when the armies clash the antichrist and his followers will be killed.
Thats where that idea comes from.

A couple of years ago while flipping through the channels I stopped at a Christian channel, was it 700 club or some other channel I do not remember very well. But a well dressed man standing next to an enlarged map of middle east definitely caught my attention. He was into some kind of analysis, refering to verses from Bible and the geography of middle east. Since I have lived in middle east I could identify the countries right off the bat. I settled in my couch and began listening to him keenly. He was talking about Anti-Christ, where he would originate, what religion he would practice, his race, ethnicity and so on. In an hour or so since I had tuned in, he had laid down various evidences from Bible, from history and made various geographic references to Israel, Syria, Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon on the map. All of the evidences put forth claiming the Anti-Christ would be born of Muslim parents of Arab descent belonging to one of the above countries.

I am a bit confused here. How can a muslim not believe in hadith (sahih hadith)?.. or how can a muslim follow only Qur'an and not the sahih hadith?.. please clarify. Maybe i am not understanding properly.

One thing I never understood was that the Islamic prediction is that the Anti-Christ will be born from a Jewish background.
Will he be pure human?
I thought the theory is that he will be under direct orders from God to impersonate God. That he will throw an arrow into the sky and it will come back down bloody, and he'll say that he killed the god everyone seems to believe in. And then he'll proclaim that he's the real god everyone should worship. But even Dajjal will know who the real God is and what the "Truth" is, and he'll just be playing the game to test believers.
Then how will he be 100 percent human...born an innocent boy/girl just like any other baby? Will he be like a sort of an anti-prophet. Like a prophet, that he got revelations and directions from God, but not preaching the truth, because he's under orders not to?
Hm, so many logic-oriented questions prop up.

There is an account where some Sahaba got stranded on some island and met Dajjal. He was chained up and will be allowed to leave the island when his time comes.

Anti christ, i.e. Dajjal will be lead or dominated by Jews. And IMO the super power signs associated with him are more methaphorical than literal. Hence the saying that when dajjal arrives Kufr will be written on his forehead, but only true muslims will be able to recognise him, (i.e. it wont be so obvious), hence for those who are waiting for a one eye guy on a donkey, methinks you'll be waiting a while yet..
