go for a mountain bike ..:chai:

Re: Choosing Bikes

Sure it got to be a mountain bike!!

1-Well you need to get a girly bike. Bike for boys and girls have different structure. Its because both, girls and boys mount on the bike in different ways.(Watch for this)

2-There are 2 kind of material used to make frame, steel and aluminum,
Ones with the steel are very cheep but no good, they weight more. So you pick one with aluminum frame. Chances are there would be only bikes with aluminum in the store. (no compromise--aluminum only)

3-Now bikes come tow type of suspensions.
a)Dual suspension: shock-absorbers, both at the back and at the front. Provide more comfort but ability to speed and stuff.. suffers.
b)Hard tail: Shocks only in the front. Good for serious bikers.(I recommend that)

-----Front shock can be hydraulic or just a spring, hydraulic ones are better.(effect on price)

4-Breaks:
Try to get one with disk breaks, Give more control. Instant stop even when its wet.(effect on price)

5-Portability:
Look for the bike with little hook on them to unmount wheels. Some come with little hinges for front and bake wheel. In case if you have to carry in in the car(get tired away from home..and have to call hubby come pick up---or no ,lunch situation) Wheels wold come off easy , with out using tools hence easy to put in the car.(great utility)

6-It may be very uncomfortable in the beginning to ride. But once you build muscle strength. You will be just fine. No need to spend more money to buy a new seat.

PlayStation: Don't bike wearing skirt. It might be a hazard.

When come home stretch to relax..and do stairs like 10-30 times to build strength..
Summer is almost over not much time left.. lets go..lets go..

Re: Choosing Bikes

Wow....that's a lot of useful info PM. Okay ...can you give me some price ideas for a good bike that you described?

in USD, I would say 200$ and above. I do recommend to get a half decent bike, since you will be riding it for many years to come.
400$-600$ bike, will be love of your life for a long, long time.

Re: Choosing Bikes

Hareem ... he is right ... dont compromise on quality ....

Re: Choosing Bikes

Where's maroush?

Re: Choosing Bikes

you dont need a mountain bike unless you are doing mountain biking. if you are mostly doign paved paths and unpaved trails a hybrid will be lighter, and will be better when you are on the road compared to a mountain bike.

Common sense has been restored in the galaxy...

Re: Choosing Bikes

^lol.

Yes X2 I was reading about the bikes and hybrid sounded the best for me. Btw, you're posting after a long time, is everything okay on your side?

spokie dude, I don't know whats driving you, BUT don't pick on me.

See I don't want to run level 2 class for wanna be athletes.

But still here is little lessen.

There are two type of athletes in the galaxy,

1-One who spent hr and hr taring; alone!! at least in the begging of there Career, hr and hr, day after day. month after month etc etc.... At that point they develop their unique style of preforming. And performance enhancing.

2-pink A$$es, who watch thi-bo video and read contents of bottled water. And have tablets handy while working out.

So cutting long story short, In athletic there are no set pattern. If you notice this thread is posted in health and "fitness". So I told her what I would do. I simply don't have advice for the second kind.

@haremm make sure you get a pink bike with , basket in front. Only take it out when U need to get fresh baked Italians bread. And put it in the basket on your way back..

So if a paki dude see you, wont get upset.

@X2 bhi jee, you can buy a bike with low cuts in tire, so speed wont get effected on the street.

PlayStation. It was my humble opinion about bike. please spare me :)

its not tires, its about the frame and posture, a hybrid will be lighter, just like aluminum is lighter than steel, by design a hyrbid is lighter than a mountain bike in majority of the cases. and hybrids provide more options in terms of seating posture, which is a good thing for casual and recreation bicyclists.

IMHO dual suspension is really way too gimicky for majority of people biking, especially if you are on paved paths or mixed trails i.e. dirt, gravel, etc..even many fairly hardcore mountain bikers prefer hardtails rather than dual suspension because there is an element of control that changes, or rather control experience that is altered with a dual suspension bike.

Hareem i have been better, inshaAllah I will be back to being myself soon :)

do so InshaAllah…we all miss your posts.

:rotfl:…very funny, you made my day.

Re: Choosing Bikes

i got my first bike for a 100 euros ... good quality, second hand ... i only learnt how to ride one like less than a year ago ... so ... didnt need a brand new one ... they cost like 350+ euros ...
ahh the weight of the bike is something i didnt consider before .... damn ... now when i have to bring it up or down any stairs, its such a nutty business.
