Stolen from eni and Hareem’s thread, if your child want to do something that is little bit out of line like zoo keeper, circus ,clown or artist would you guide them to choose a better profession so they can take care of their family or would you tell them do what their heart desires. I just mentioned in Hareem’s thread my friend’s husband went out of way to join culinary school, spent money on it , tried his chef tricks for a year in some restaurant and realized that he is not making enough money to support his family , so he went back to corporate America and is happy now. He thought he would be happy what he is doing as a chef but sometimes you need to think practically what is right for you. It happened to me too I chose the wrong profession , I quit and I am still thinking what to do next.
Re: Choosing a right profession
profession should be halal and affordable to bear luxuries of normal life. ![]()
Re: Choosing a right profession
it's always difficult to convince your child what profession you think is best for them. they can think for themselves. those days are gone when kids did what parents wanted them to do.
my nephew wanted to be a Vet while his parents wanted him to be a Surgeon. there was so much conflict over the last year that i felt awkward listening to their arguments.
also, he was working as a summer research student at the university then he decided to quite that job mid-way and go work at African Lion Safari ... working out in the sun in 40 degree heat [with humidex]...he argued that it working there would help his career while his parents argued that he must have done MD. lol
i think kids need guidance, a good guidance, and then let them decide what they want for themselves.
now, he has succeeded in getting accepted in a VET program at an IVY League University in the US. good for him! :)
Re: Choosing a right profession
im sure those things can be done along with another profession. =) they certainly don't need to be full-time. people can and should do many things.

That's what I think, you should do it as a second job but ruin your career or life over silly things.
