i think Firozabad is known for chooRiyaaN and glass-work than Hyderabad. my uncle was posted there as Superintendent of Police and we still have a lemon set [a jug N 6 glasses] gifted by him with my bro's name water-marked on each item. :)

yes, Firozabad is on my way from New Delhi to Allahabad. i, sometimes, take Kalka Mail and i get a chance to see what the working conditions are like in those home-based industry. These factories are scattered alongside the tracks on either side...inside, it's hot and filthy...workers get a meager amount for their work. sad! :(

Strange.. So sikh women don’t like wearing chooriyan or they have Kangan / Kadaa, etc for wearing. In Thar (Dessert area of Sindh), unmarried women wear bangles upto elbow and wearing bangles above elbow is sign of married woman.
Sikh women wear Chooris mostly duing party's else they have Karaa, Bangles above elbow is common in Rajasthan, Chooris are mostly UP to South India section, Mangalsutra is more common with Marathis and South Indians:)
Now whats the idea of maglasutra.. as we discussed in Devdasi thread, it was probably necessary to get on bead from Devdasi’s necklace to make a manglasutra. What is the origin of word Manglasutra? Is is related to some Devi / Devta?

Yes one bead should be from Devdasis, It is blessing of Mangal dev, planet Mars for long wedding life Even in Gurudwara they say not to keep any fast, as fasting is not allowed in Sikhi, but still woman keep fast, specially Karwa Chouth, because there are gifts involved in that:D
