Chivalry

Re: Chivalry

^ I didnt get that huma. Can you pls elaborate n explain? :-)

Then you should have stated that instead of cracking a rude joke. Anyway,...

Re: Chivalry

I am sorry I think you have me confused with a gentleman. I am nothing of the sort.

As for the subject matter, it is a gender based discussion as it comments on the relationship between our two genders. Do not mistake for a fact that Chivalry at its very basis considers that men need to do this becuase women are infact not equal to men.

^ I didnt get that huma. Can you pls elaborate n explain? :-)

Maham someone said that back in those days women spent their time cooking n cleaning etc. I meant to say even in those days there were women like Fatima Jinnah who knew better.

I know for a fact that if I was born in "those days", I still would have made a bright future for myself.

What you make of your life depends completely on you and not on the era that you live in... or how chivalrous your man is!

@ CM

^ LOL.

I do believe women are not equal to men :-) They are superior ;).

On a serious note, i wonder how you drove that theory?! I am seriously, honestly interested in knowing your evaluation of chivarly that acccounted in this statement.

I believe women n men can't be equal cuz they r two different entities. However that doesnt make anyone superior, they r just not comparable. Women r the more sensitive, gentle, emotional ones hence the invention of chivarly for them. Nothing more to it i believe.

Oh ok. Got it. Thanks. And i agree with you to most extent however i do believe the era, the society, the culture does have an impact on how a person develops bt that impact cant be or shudnt overlap their capabilities :-)

Re: Chivalry

It means to have morals, principles and politeness to women. This is what I taught my 5 year old son while reading on Knights. (sometimes knights have to sing or play a musical instrument to win a woman's heart).

This.

Re: Chivalry

Chivalry is not dead, but the women of today (generally) are hastening it's death if you ask me.

ironically, women will complain and say "there aren't nice guys anymore," but a lot of them turn around and fall for the jerk instead of a nice guy.

so who's fault is it if chivalry is dying? :)

Re: Chivalry

I will agree that women as well as men are killing the notion of chivalry.

I have met some amazing friends during University who are keeping it alive. Male friends used to pay for cinema trips, meals and days out. They never felt compelled to but often treated me like they would treat a sister of theirs and never wanted anything in return or created a fuss over these gestures.

Little things like opening doors and keeping them open are something which highlights consideration for others- regardless of what gender you are. I always make sure I look around and if it looks like someone else is behind me or ahead of me, I will keep the door open. Letting older people sit down whilst using public transport etc.

I don't even think it is about chivalry anymore but everyone should exercise good manners and consideration for others.

Re: Chivalry

^ True. Nowadays people have trouble saying even a thankyou if u offer 2 hold the door for them, or give them yr seat....

Re: Chivalry

If chivalry means that a guy will open the door for u and let u out first, if he will pay for a water bottle that u got from the uni mart, if he will ask u if u need anything from the restaurant etc while going out then yes it is still very much here and women over here like it when men are chivalrous
