Chirac Says World No Safer Without Saddam
1:35 pm PST, 17 November 2004
French president Jacques Chirac says he’s not at all sure the world has become safer with the removal of Saddam Hussein from power.
Mr Chirac suggested, in a BBC interview, the situation in Iraq had helped to prompt an increase in terrorism.
He emphasised that any intervention in Iraq should have been through the United Nations.
Mr Chirac said the ousting of Hussein was a postive thing to a certain extent, but has also provoked reactions such as the mobilisation of men and women of Islam, which have made the world more dangerous.
“I’m not at all sure that one can say that the world is safer,” Mr Chirac told the BBC.

If I follow brother Jacques (pronounced Yawk), the world will be safer WITH Saddam. I don't know! The rest of the news is kind of wishy washy (or Flip Floppy). May be other guppies can draw different conclusions.
