Me too know the chipkali in punjabi as kor kirli but i think korr is distorted shape of word Koharr which is name of a disease. maybe people used to believe that to whoever this kirili bite, get disease of Koharr.

chipkali bites sun kar rongte khaRe ho gae. BTw, chpkali bite karne se banda mar jata hai? There are stories that chipkali sticked in brides jooRa and she died (probably heart attack)?

there was a story in teen mard teen kahaniyan ages ago, someone got kidnapped and taken to a remote settlement. the kidnappers asked him to make tea for them, when he was making tea a big black lizard fell into the pot from kitchen roof. and the guy made sure to boil the water too well with lizard in it. served the tea, which rendered the kidnappers unconscious and he ran away : D

sanDa (panjabi) = بھینسا= سنڈا
saanD (panjabi/urdu) = بھینسا = سانڈ
saanDa (punjabi/sindhi) = سانڈا = chameleon

Girgit is Urdu word.
@Aceones! gave a clarification in post 31 about Saand / Saanda. Do you agree with that?
