Chipkalees

Is it true that if you keep a peacock feather (or two) in your room, it will keep chipkalees away?

My mom read it in an Urdu digest and told me that it must work (and I must therefore go out and find them for our place)!

Anybody know if this works, or what else works to keep chipkalees away?

Re: Chipkalees

:cb: I have heard egg shells keep them away. changing your country of residence will also keep them away :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Chipkalees

stop being so mean Femme, :kursi:

I agree with FF though, egg shells is one way of keeping the chipkalis away.

I am scared of them but I lived among them when I was in Islamabad. They were big, pinkish green in colour and would emerge late in the evening out of nowhere. :–(

Re: Chipkalees

Islamabad - loads of them! In summer, you are sure to find half a dozen of them sticking to your window! Once my train stopped at the Wazirabad railway station on July day, and believe there was at least on lizard per sqaure feet on the station's wall.

Re: Chipkalees

:crying: i’m scared to death of all kinds of pests and lizards would be really scary. :crying:

Re: Chipkalees

Forget bout shells and feathers, just get a cat :cb:

Lizards are good, they help eat all the flies and mozzies.

Re: Chipkalees

lizzzards....thanks God i don't see them anymore...

my mom is scared of lizards...she has used almost every "totka".....eggshells did not seem to work....and neither was aluminum foil effective....
but she thinks that the peacock feathers did work actually....
hmmm...cant say for sure as i haven't witnessed it myself....:D

Re: Chipkalees

actually, our neighbour has two cats and she still has chipkalees running around her place.

ok i will try out the egg shells. what i don’t understand is … how do they get into closed closets? :crying:

Re: Chipkalees

Re: Chipkalees

ewwww! i remember living in karachi and having chipkalees... shudder
good luck getting rid of them!

Re: Chipkalees

ughghgh.. just reading about it is giving me creeps. by the way, WHY is this being discussed among food and recipes.. it's so gross. I see CAKE DECORATING and right above it, CHIPKALEES..

EW!

Re: Chipkalees

cause it has to do with my home shay9164!

Jal_Pari, you know, I always hear this weird noise, usually late at night. I think it's living in the AC (the one which is not turned on). :(

Anyway, wherever we move to, they are all over this part of the world. I even saw some in Singapore a few weeks back, and that's like the cleanest little island in this area. :(

Re: Chipkalees

Women and their exaggerated reactions :) urgh what they call it , yes Phobia :)

Re: Chipkalees

i m having chilling feeling,OMG i just hate them ..
ohhh God they are so scary

Re: Chipkalees

if boiled, they make excellent soup with side dish of fried cocroaches, umm yum yum :yummy:

Re: Chipkalees

Oh cmon, yall scared of these! :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Chipkalees

thats a very small one, sara! i've seen massive ones... ick.

Re: Chipkalees

Forget about cats... use egg shells. Never seen a cat run across the ceiling upside down to chase a lizard.

Also have you ever seen a lizard lose its tail? The tail is still alive for a few mins and wriggles all over the place...Oh but dont worry...they grow another tail soon enough!!
