I personally find this funny and childish…Do we really need to respond to the recent visit of US president to India?

Lets see if Indian army chief , whoever that is currently will visit russia or amrekka in that period.

I think its a good move.

But the real 'tit for tat' would be having Russian president in the parade. Right now Amreeki hate Russians far more than chinese.
The only problem is that its a sinking ship

Its easy to see this as a tit for tat reply of Obama's visit to India but there is other background too which people would not forget

1) Chinese president's visit was due, way before Obama's visit of India. This was supposed to happen before but was cancelled due to political unrest etc.

2) Pakistan always had 23rd march parade/festivities and most of the time they used to have some country's President/PM as chief guest. I did not like them first reducing the scope of the parade and then cancelling it all together in the name of "savings". Heck we waste so much money on Govt, its OK to spend some on "feel good" factor for common man.

So yeah, Obama's visit might have then "hurrying" it into it this year but they should have restarted the parade thingie anyway with all the wars we are fighting.

I think if he has promised then he would. In May Modi is supposed to go on a high profile visit to China, this visit of chini prez could be pressure tactics for them on certain issues. They can always find an excuse that this is not tit for tat as this visit was scheduled earlier but got postponed.

Chini prez would come for another reason too, before chini prez came to India, Modi visited Japan on yet another high profile visit and also befriended Vietnam which irked them.

It could be one stone two birds for Nawaz if he plays his cards right. First he can show India that he got chini back and second he can claim some moral victory against IK.

But my gut feeling is modi may go to Germany or Russia who have been inviting him for a while now before may.

Putin would never come in this scenario. He would not want to irk India or America for that matter. India Russia relationship go way beyond empty slogans. Its a practical business relationship.

Why not have Russian, Chinese and Iranian presidents? We should go with the bang. :D Personally, I think its silly. I think army chiefs visit to China during Obama's visit to India looked awkward (its kinda like we are saying to Indians...you got your pimp we go ours).

Not really, the Chinese visit was due long before Obama's visit to India and considering the political party of the neighboring country, not a bad idea.
