Chinese media projects Pakistan’s cultural and social life
BEIING, Dec. 14 (APP): China Central Television
(CCTV) aired a 60-minutes special show on Pakistan cultural and social
life in its national hook-up on three consecutive days this week.
It was aimed at promoting tourism and social
linkages between the two countries. The documentary was
specially prepared by the CCTV’s team that visited Pakistan
in September this year. It gave an intensive coverage to the
traditional life and the country’s cultural heritage.
It was the first-ever presentation by the
Chinese electronic media to project Pakistan especially among
the young generation. It was marked by a quiz competition,
participated by the Chinese students, in background of
the documentary.
Meanwhile, a popular Chinese magazine, Traveller
published a special supplement on "Pakistan’s tourism
potentials" to introduce the country’s rich cultural heritage.
A team of a research institute is also visiting
Pakistan to prepare a documentary on famous Chinese Buddhist
monk, Xuan Zang, who travelled various places of the sub-continent
from AD 630 to AD 644 through the historical silk route.
The documentary will facilitate the Chinese people
who wished to visit the same places in Pakistan.
The sources said the Chinese tourists and enterprises
are not quite familiar with historical places in Pakistan,
its picturesque scenic spots and the cultural heritage. It is
hoped that the media coverage will create greater understanding about
the tourism charm in the country.
Two famous Chinese magazines, "City
Tourism" and “Civilisation”, have already produced special
supplements on “Tourism in Pakistan”. The sources hoped that the
numbers of Chinese tourists would increase in the coming months,
since the Chinese government has already accorded the
Authorized Tourism Destination Status to Pakistan.
The two countries have also signed a protocol
of bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector during the Prime
Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali’s recent visit to Beijing.
"The travel agencies and tour operators of the two
countries need to cooperate in preparing tour packages facilitating
the tourists," said a senior official of the Travel Service Group
of China (CTS).
In the recent years, there
has been rapid growth of Chinese tourists, as record 15
million Chinese went abroad between January and November this
year, spending about 25 billion dollars.
