Chinese J-10 or F-10 for Pakistan

This aircraft has always been a mystery. Some say it is better than F-16.
There was news sometime back that Pakistan will buy this aircraft from China, but nothing has been heard after that.

This aircraft is the first ‘real thing’ China has produced. JF-17 is just a stop gap program for Pakistan and a low cost side project for China.

Has anyone got any information when Pakistan will get these aircraft?

If Pakistan does get them, it will give us an edge over India as F-16s provided by USA are old Block-50 F-16s which are no match for latest aircraft being acquired by India.

Re: Chinese J-10 or F-10 for Pakistan

It’s already part of PAF fighter fleet. News] Here’s the wiki page about JF-17 Thunder.

Re: Chinese J-10 or F-10 for Pakistan

This thread is about J-10 and not JF-17, they are two different aircraft.

Re: Chinese J-10 or F-10 for Pakistan

J-10 is PLAAF plane.F-10 is nothing.

FC-20 ( an upgraded variant of J-10 and somewhat similar to J-10B ) will be inducted around 2013-14 into PAF.

J-10 is almost equal to F-16 Block 40 in capabilities. Its considered more maneuverable than F-16 but somewhat inferior in avionics to block 50/52+ and 60.

Re: Chinese J-10 or F-10 for Pakistan

The F-16's provided by USA are not older block 50's but newer block 52 + (plus).

The older PAF F-16's A/B block 15 OCU , after MLU (Mid Life Upgrade) will be 80% capable as newer C/D block 52+ and these are older A/B's are better dog fighters than newer C/D, which is more inclined towards Air to Ground role.

The Super Viper Block 70 offered to IAF will be almost same to UAE's Block 60. PAF pilots have already flown the UAE-AF F-16 E/F block 60. So Practically speaking, PAF knows the enemy's machine already as it flies them from own arsenal and has flown newest versions too (Turkey, Egypt, own block 52+ and UAE). This doesnt give IAF any remarkable edge over PAF.

Not many people know this but, after Mumbai aftermath, on 13 december 2008, A pair of IAF SU-30 MKI, were intercepted by 2 F-16 A Block 15 of PAF and one F-16 achieved a missile lock on MKI and the MKI disengaged. The proof was the gun-camera shot and was shown to US also. Later in Media, the talks by Indian media about Surgical strikes in Pakistan died down. I think this incident speaks volumes about a deadly machine in capable hands.

Thanks for the elaboration. But according to my research, Block 52 F-16s were developed in 1990 and they did not have any upgraded technology after that.
The Block 60 or 70 is certainly the latest F-16 and Pakistan should have been given those.

If the video of that incident is made public, it will definitely be a big embarrassment for India.

PAF is getting F-16 Block 52+ (PLUS) , not F-16 block 52. The first Block 52 + (PLUS) was delivered in 2006 to Polish AF.

The main differences between both are:

1.Addition of support for conformal fuel tanks (CFTs), which provide an additional 440 US gallon or approximately 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg) of additional fuel, allowing increased range or time on station and frees up hardpoints for weapons instead of underwing fuel tanks.

2.A dorsal spine compartment. All two-seat (D-Variant ) "Plus" aircraft have the enlarged avionics dorsal spine compartment which is located behind the cockpit and extends to the tail. It adds 30 cu ft (850 L) to the airframe for more avionics with only small increases in weight and drag

3.The APG-68(V9) radar.

4.an On-Board Oxygen Generation (OBOGS) system.

5.a JHMCS helmet, which gives a lethal edge in WVR combat.

Does India even know how to fly airplanes?
