Chinese feel the thrill of cricket

ISLAMABAD, December 05 (Online): The Chinese seem to be thrilled by the game of cricket and time is not far away if their cricket team plays World Cup 2011.

The evidence came in light when Jia Qiuglin Chairman Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) called on Speaker National Assembly here on Thursday.

During their talks when they were exploring the avenues of cooperation between the two countries, the visiting guest, while acknowledging Pakistan’s excellence in cricket expressed that China wished Pakistanis to coach Chinese youth in this game.

By the way, he said that Pakistan cricket have bought many laurels to the country especially World Cup 1992 under great Imran Khan.

His knowledge on cricket may be little, but he has identified an important and exciting avenue for promotion of Pakistan-China Friendship, he added.

This should be interesting. Can imagine chinese playing cricket. Haiyaa.

Lau jee, the Chinese want the Pakistanis to coach them, Chinese kay first match mein hee satay baazi hogee. :hehe:

Yup wisdom bypassed me. ;)

If Chinese ever produce a tendulkar and Steve bucknor adjudged him out wrongly, then instead of an "Abay" the last thing he would hear is Haiyaaa.

Forget everything else. First, invite a Chinese delegation to come watch a test match. Make them watch each ball of all five days. After the match is over, tell them that after playing for five days, there is no result, the match is “drawn” and no team has won.

If after that, they are still interested in learning to play this game… then they have the right mindset :k:

Why am I not surprised.

Beijing wants to inject the keeRRa of Cricket into Chinese Youth so that they will remain occupied with this sport (which now goes all year around). In the old days a team would play at the most 3 to 4 test matches in a series. Now it's endless. This means no more Tianamen Square fiascos, no more protests. You see, all other Chinses sports like Gymnastics, table tennis, etc only last a few minutes and done. Cricket will last for days and keep them busy.

I am just wondering k jub chinese team ho ge, tu chinese umpires bhi hoon gaay, so we can actually put stump vision camera in chinese umpire's topi :)

The Game Responds:

*I read a few years ago that some Chinese cricket lovers were actually trying to develop bowlers who could bowl with both their right and left hands to confuse the batsmen! The Chinese will always be in the front row. Really. People, That Is All.*

:hehe:

Chinese would make amazing batsmen, they are as smart as hell, short and learn things really easily,,,,, but then again that formula has'nt worked with Bandladesh yet.....

China applies for Asian Cricket Council membership

CALCUTTA (India): China, not renowned as a cricketing nation, has applied for membership of the Asian Cricket Council, a top official said Saturday. “The ACC executive committee will meet next month to approve China’s membership,”’ council chief executive Ashraful Haque told the Associated Press. Cricket has a marginal following in China, mostly limited to cities like Beijing and Shanghai. But the ACC – hoping to secure major sponsorship deals by holding tournaments in one of the world’s top markets – has been lobbying China to encourage people to take up the sport. Haque said China applied for membership on December 4 and will become the ACC’s 21st member when approved. The council plans a school tournament to try and spawn Chinese children’s interest in cricket. The ACC’s coaches for Southeast Asia – Rumesh Ratnayeke, Roger Binny and Iqbal Sikander – will help train youngsters in China. China first showed interest in cricket in 1996. Haque attributed China’s current fascination in the sport to the success of Asian countries in the international cricket arena and the emergence of cricket as a global sport. —AP

This is great. If we have China as a cricket playing country in the future, this will hopefully give even more clout to the ACC! :k:
