So I see interesting moves from China, aside from being the worlds largest auto market, it has numerous companies, and quality has been an issue but that is changing rapidly.
Geely did a replica of rolls royce, another company bought old british marquee MG.
how soon do you think chinese cars will make noise in western markets? or even middle east etc.
I predict that their ride is going to be shorter than kia or hyundai, because they will buy marquees and sell under known old brand names..
on the other hand well known japanese barands like daihatsu and isuzu did not really go too well globally, in some areas they did well and in others they did not, so that may be a factor.
I still think that within this decade we all may be looking at a chinese car as a potential option.
afterall on of my BMW fan pals is now driving in a Hyundai Genesis.
I reckon they havwe thier niche market particulalrly if they start doing what th Japs used to do and plop a Turbo into a standard 1.4 engine… Woooaah i would seriously freak out if we had another Datsun Cherry style rebel faction again…
To the topic at hand, they will probably introduce some cars in US in this decade. Hyundai’s ratings have gone up considerably in last 4 years after they offered 100k mile warranty on engine/transmission but Kia has not done so well. 2011 Hyndai Sonata and Genesis are really good designs, they are copying/mixing good designs now, Chinese manufacturers will probably do the same.
