Like people have much say in any other part of the world. You can't really be that naive...I think you really have no idea what you are talking about. More than 80% of Chinese practice Mahayana Buddhism. There are 20 Million Muslims in China, there are Christians in China, there are people who belong to other various faiths in China.

haha... maybe u need to re-read your sources... 80% of chinese practising some religion is highly improbable cos in communism there is no religion..... that is the policy...

What policy are you talking about? Once again, are you really that naive? What time and age are you living at? Communist China? HAHA! China is arguably the most capitalistic country in the world and you are talking about communism.

I don't need to google anything. I'm an Anarcho-Communist and I practice Islam.
There is no such thing as Communist China, deal with it.
What in God's name should I imagine under "communist lifestyle", when communism is an economy system and China is a capitalist state? LOL

cmon open up ur mind... communism is not just economic ... along with it brings other societal norms and influences...
first line from wikipedia..
communism (from Latin: communis = "common") is a family of economic and political **ideas and **social movements related to the establishment of an egalitarian, classless and stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general, as well as the name given to such a society.
hey by the way check wikipedia article on communism and religion and then check religion in communist afghanistan..
Re: China’s national day parade: Impressive
We are talking about China here, not Afghanistan. You are out of date, 30 years behind. There is no Communist China no more Bob.
And since you like Wikipedia so much.

perfect... to quote from the article... 'While official data estimated 100 million religious believers in China' that could be like 10% of people in china follow any religion unlike what u said initially 80%...
yeah rite we are talking about china ... china, communism and religion.. .
“The accuracy of the religious data in China from census sources is questioned. While official data estimated 100 million religious believers in China, a survey taken by Shanghai University found that 31.4% of people above the age of 16, or about 300 million people, considered themselves religious. The survey also found that the major religions are Buddhism, Taoism, Islam and Christianity, accounting for 67.4 percent of believers. About 200 million people are Buddhists, Taoists or worshippers of legendary figures such as the Dragon King and God of Fortune, accounting for 66.1 per cent of all believers, while Christianity accounted for 12% of believers, or 40 million people.[17]](Religion in China - Wikipedia)[18]](Religion in China - Wikipedia) The official China Daily called the Shanghai professors’ research “the country’s first major survey on religious beliefs”.[19]](Religion in China - Wikipedia) The Chinese government have accepted these new numbers. The wide disparity among these estimates underscores the difficulty of accurately surveying the religious view of a nation of over a billion people and the lack of reliable data.”
We are talking about the Capitalist Superpower China here.

Re: China's national day parade: Impressive

Talk to China's neighbours such as Vietnam, Japan, Korea before making such analysis.

Not to mention Tibetans and don't forget China's "border skirmishes" with the USSR and India in the 60's.

They were about to be overrun in 1953 when MacArthur wanted to invade China during the Korean War but Truman fired him.

Correct. If the US wanted to conquer China it easily could have done so then. Heck, it could have conquered anyone after WW 2. It was the only nation with nuclear weapons and accounted for about half of the world economy. It could have simply annexed Western Europe, moved into Eastern Europe and from there Asia and Africa. It didn't. It stopped, withdrew and rebuilt the devastated World War 2 nations. Can you name any other great power in history who has done this? I am sure Vigortatus is a big fan of Turkish, Persian, and Arab imperialism. Did they ever withdraw from a conquered land? Did they ever rebuild anything and then leave? We know what the Arabs and Persians did to our ancestors in Pakistan...

oh how innocent you are
i really have to shed a tear hear
wait
let me whipe my eyes
ehum......ok now i am ok
so u really think USA did help Europe because they felt pity for UK/Holland/France and rest of West Europe? hmmmmmmmmm how nice is this
and the Marhsall help that USA gave to the West and even Japan and German that was because they simply loved those countries??? hmmmmm well dearest
don't u agree they only did that because they needed countries THOSE countries to do business with???? :)
Anyhow its your imagination that USA could have taken over any country if they could.
Economicly USA is a giant but waging wars will always destroy any powerful nation.
In history most big empires lost their kingdom and empire because they are war mongering idiots. Thanks to Bush and the right wing groups in USA the GREAT NATION of AMERICA is bankrupt.
The US accounted for half the world economy and had no competition. It was doing just fine. Of course, part of the reason for the Marshall Plan was to help Western Europe resist the USSR. However, answer the basic question: name one other great power in history who did what the US did? Did the Netherlands? Ancient Persia? How about the Arab imperialists who Pakistanis love, such as Mohammad Bin Qasim?
The US could not have taken over Western Europe? The USSR, a far weaker country than the US, did take over Eastern Europe so it was clearly possible (and Hitler took over much of Western and Eastern Europe with far less power than the US). The US did occupy Japan for a decade and could have stayed there if it wished.
The US is not close to being bankrupt. Its debt level is still lower than that of places like the UK.

I agree that overstretch, too much spending on the military plays a role in the fall of great powers but that does not mean they cannot get away with it for even centuries. Look at the great powers of the past, including the Arabs (who went from Arabia to stretching from India to France. How did that happen?). They were actually involved in far more wars than the US and these powers remained.
The US spends 4% of its GDP on the military, and this is with the increased costs from Iraq and Afghanistan. During the Cold War it spend about 6% and did fine. The US demise that so many are fantasizing about is not coming, although China may overtake America in a few decades as the dominant superpower. The US will not go the way of the USSR. It will remain a superpower for at least the rest of this century.
Now the US spends 4% of its GDP on the military. It is a very rich country. Pakistan spends 3%. Why? Even with that it is still outspent 4:1 on defense by India so what is it achieving?
reminds me of Soviet Union....*besides democracies don't parade military equipment * military parades showing military equipment is designed to silence dissent in the country
its an out dated relic of then 20th century
That's far from truth.
Last time I checked india was a 'democracy'. Why does it parade its military equipment then?
EDIT: On checking all the posts, I realized this point has already been raised by a fellow poster.

Sorta how Pakistan decorates everything from Chowks to Lawn gardens with long range missle replicas and fighter jets?!?!
