China’s donation for quake victims reaches $11.2 million
China’s total donation in cash and material from public and private sectors for the earthquake victims in Pakistan has reached 11.2 million US dollars. “We are still receiving donations from various parts of the country,” said a senior official of the Pakistan embassy here Saturday. He told APP that the Chinese government has assured continued support to the quake victims. Accordingly, all the relevant departments have been issued instructions to make necessary arrangements for actively taking part in relief and reconstruction work in the affected areas. Besides from Chinese major companies, the donations were also being made by the Pakistanis, residing in various parts of China, the official added. Another batch of relief materials to quake-hit Pakistan from north China’s port city of Tianjin last night. It was the largest batch of relief materials so far, including blankets, tents, mini-sized dynamotors, emergency lamps and drinking water. Meanwhile, Secretary General Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Deguang visited Pakistan Embassy in Beijing and assured that member countries will contribute to relief operation in the quake-affected areas. Expressing his deep sense of shock over devastating earthquake, he said the SCO’s member countries including China have further intensified their efforts to help the affected people. China’s State leader Tang Tiaxuan also visited the Embassy and assured maximum possible financial and material support to the quake-affected people. Talking to Pakistan’s ambassador Salman Bashir, he said Chinese government and the people fully stand with their Pakistani friends in the hour of great shock and distress.
