NEW DELHI: The Chinese government on Saturday not only nearly toppled India’s Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) bid in Vienna, but went a step further by advocating a similar nuclear deal for Pakistan.
China made the case for Pakistan in a veiled statement, saying it hoped the NSG would ‘equally address the aspirations of all parties.’ A number of analysts have taken the phrase ‘of all parties’ to mean a reference to its ally Pakistan.
Chinese Foreign Minister, Cheng Jingye, head of Chinese delegation scheduled to visit on Sunday said, “It is also China’s hope that the NSG would equally address the aspirations of all parties for the peaceful use of nuclear power while adhering to the nuclear non-proliferation mechanism.”
You think India is stable with Insurgencies going left and right!!! It has nothing to do with stability but US interest and that is the bottom line… Given rapidly rising dragon in Indias north, long term US pollicy is to contain it and there is no better then India to serve the purpose..
I wish Pakistan could prosper and both India and Pakistan compete in fields which strive to serve the region in productive manner, rather than silly Arms race.
When peace is present, nations prosper in their own respective ways. It's kind of contageous, peace has a way of spreading and making everyone's lives better.
Both Pakistan and India should sort out their difference in a whole-hearted, humble, and sincere manner. Perhaps both can develop Nuclear energy together and benefit from it jointly.
india is thousands time more stable as compared to pakistan.
Yeah sure may be you forgot couple of jeros ..LOL... So long US interest are served you can remove or add as many jeros you want, make it 10,000 times more or less as if US cares...

India doesnt depends on US for its stability. Please talk with some sense.
That is the hoax created and everyone is believing it, like AlQaida/Taliban are genius who can steal and convert a reactor into suit-case bomb “wrong hands” my foot.
I'd say Pakistan has a little time to improve overall security situation. Such deals are not done overnight and it may takes years if not months.
Prospect of Nuclear energy for civil use is and will eventually become a necessity, providing that while Pakistan and China work through the redtape, Pakistan can actually better its security situation.
Prolifiration gimmick is a laughing factor because most of the major players who today advocate the control of proliferation at one time or another have themselves misused their atomic power. So that will not be much of a problem, rather a reason to shed tears and if anything further delay the deal/agreement.
It just boils down to Pakistan's internal stability.
I believe they do have the ability to deliver. However, i do believe at the moment China itself is dependent on NSG, so it will not do anything to compromise its own standing.
If and when Pakistan can display that it has the strength to maintain stability then China can defend and push Pakistan's case. Pakistan has got to do major works before asking China to do its bidding in the International arena.
China has been helping Pakistan on various vital projects, and the cooperation has always been there. No strings attached.
