China - The great friend

Growing up in Pakistan, China was always viewed as the great friend. It could be my military brat up bringing but … I want to know why is it a great friend?

What has it done for Pakistan or Pakistanis in general that it is a great friend?

How much money comes from China? Not just now, since the beginning of Pakistan? How many collaborations and or Joint ventures are going on with China?

I know the responses might be very ‘military’ heavy … but I want to know about non-military collaboration going on? How does the industry likes China?

The textile industry benefits from friendliness with China? How about other agriculture?

How much do we export to China? What do we export? What do we import?

Yes, links to articles with some answers will help.

I think it is an insult to Mao that this thread could only muster one response. I thought people will be flooding here with praises to the great friend.

Re: China - The great friend

I think the relationship between Pakistan and China only really exitsts due to their mutual distrust of India. It is in Chinas interest to see a stronger Pakistan so it can pose a threat to Chinas old enenmy India. However China wouldn't allow the rise of Pakistans strength to the extent that Pakistan may actually rival China one day. Typical imperialism really.
