China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

there you go again, all the china bashers arguement goes down the drain.

God bless China

America’s image is still so tattered abroad after the Irak war that China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds.
Its image has not recovered in Western European countries, the US-based Pew Research Center found.

“It’s amazing when you see the European public rating the United States so poorly, especially in comparison with China,” said Andrew Kohut, director of the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, which carried out the survey.

majority of the public in 10 of the 15 countries surveyed holds unfavourable opinions of the US.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

What does that have to do with China commiting wide scale human rights abuses, epecially with their Muslim population? Why don't you spend your time researching and posting those facts? The Muslims at Gitmo are a teeny tiny group compared to the ones being oppresed in China. God Bless China, may they continue their massive human rights abuses.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

Because China does not claim to be the paragon of all thats good and purveyor of democracy not the upholder of the basic human rights.....Yet still China, does not coerce UN into sanctioning a muslim country, where millions die as a direct result of those sanction.....nor does it supply weapons to mass murderers and prop them up and only to invade their countries in the name of freeing the citizens of those country while killing hundreds of thousands in the process......

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

Gosh, we should expect a huge long line of visa seekers into China instead of the US?

Wake me when that happens...

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

Oh, China supplies about half of all of the AK-47s in the world. Any guess as to how many Muslims were killed by the ubiquitous AK-47 this year? It is arguably the most successful weapon of mass destruction ever created.

and I reject the notion that because China does not speak loudly on the world stage that it should be allowed to quietly repress its people with no recognition of the conditions of it’s people.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll find

i think they are self sufficient when it comes to ‘cheap labor’.

It is surprising how different Indians and Pakistanis view US.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll find

nicols no one gives a siht how Indians view anything..

but we do care how Israel deals with China.. they’re getting chummier by the day .. and why not.. all those stolen secrets that have made their way to China must have done wonders for Israel to win China’s attention..

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

Exactly, why would Pakistanis care how their huge neighbor and former brothers view anything? It's much more logical that they would be interested in a New Jersey-sized country thousands of miles away.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll find

You mean Pakistanis care about stolen nuclear and military secrets that make their way to other countries? You can knock me over with a feather.

If China and Israel become all buddy buddy, it sure will place a lot of you Guppies in a real quandry. You might have to find some other repressive, regime that muzzles and kills it’s Muslim population to fawn over and admire.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

:ahaa: How about Russia? Nah, probably too gora.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

ooh shutup!!!..world just hates america because of its freedom, Mcds and starbucks..thats all…:hehe:

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll find

Pakistanis living in the USA do.. unlike some others we are loyal to the country we live in ..

And how does that view develop and mature?

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - IBM is planning to hire more than 14,000 new workers in India this year, even as the company proceeds with layoffs of up to 13,000 workers in Europe and the United States, the New York Times reported Friday, citing an internal company document.

IBM (Research) Senior Vice President Robert Moffat, in an interview with the newspaper, said the move is not entirely about cost saving.

“People who say this is simply labor arbitrage don’t get it. It’s mostly about skills,” Moffat was quoted as saying.

The buildup in IBM’s labor force in India, Moffat told the Times, was attributable to surging demand for technology services in a thriving Indian economy and the opportunity to tap the many skilled Indian software engineers to work on projects around the world.

Lower trade barriers and cheaper telecommunications and computing ability help allow a distant labor force to work on technology projects, he said in the report.

“You are no longer competing just with the guy down the street, but also with people around the world,” he told the Times.

Moffat told the newspaper that IBM is hiring people around the world, including many in the United States, in new businesses that the company has marked for growth, even as it trims elsewhere.

The company announced last month that it would cut 10,000 to 13,000 jobs, about a quarter of them in the United States and** the bulk in Western Europe**, the newspaper said.

Critics, however, contend that IBM is a leading example of the corporate strategy of shopping the globe for the cheapest labor in a single-minded pursuit of profits, to the detriment of wages, benefits and job security in the U.S. and in other developed countries, the report said.

Washington-based WashTech, a group that seeks to unionize such workers, gave the IBM document labeled “IBM Confidential” on Indian employment to the New York Times, the newspaper said.

According to the report, IBM’s overall employment in the United States has held steady for the last few years, at about 130,000.

The newspaper said IBM declined to comment on the document or the numbers in it.

So why not Pakistan? Let’s see. OBL, beheadings, mosque bombings…

Don’t you guys feel an opportunity slipping away while China and India bloom?

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

Why don’t you spend your time correcting the white superimist, fanatic evangelican clans and Free Masonery in your country. Instead of wasting ur time defending an arrogant super power go and do something better.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll find

people choose to see what they want to see.. India has it’s share of problems.. communal riots.. subjugation of minorities.. many incidents involving Christians too.. plus there’s the burning Kashmir dispute..

Corporations can choose to invest where it’s most profitable.. i doubt the situation of foreign investment in Pakistan would change much even if there weren’t these ‘regular’ once in 50 years beheadings…

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

^^Security is a very real consideration in corporate decisions. As john nichols pointed out, being welcome isn't bad either.

Recently two Chinese companies put in bids on Maytag and Unocal (oops there goes that Afghan pipeline!). The problem is there is no reciprocal rights for US companies to buy Chinese assets. Until that gets solved, China will probably be blocked from fully participating in capitalism.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

Why don’t you spend your time developing your own country to super power status, then at least you’d have some excuse for arrogance.

Get whitey!

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

that is too simple an argument. The company is a US company from the balance sheet perspective. most of the assets are in Asia. No need to block this transaction. China needs to revalue the Yuan regardless and it is opening up many sectors for cross border transactions.

Re: China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds

^^ but the two companies involved are state owned companies. The jewel assets of china are not privatized, so there is no way to invest in them. I don't think revaluing the Yuan is going to do a thing, the real problem is open access to markets, copyright protections. the Chinese can spend all the capital they want propping up the Yuan.

Ultimately the Chinese will only really succeed when the Communist regime fails. Capitalism is the the biggest trojan horse ever created. When the Chinese consumer starts demanding goods, instead of working for rice rations, then china will fly. Central controls have always failed.
