Re: China has encircled India from all sides - India should be worried ...
All this hue and cry about USA preparing India for China kept aside, India has a lot to accomplish before it can be considered in the same league as China. India definitely has the potential but lot of things dragging its feet back, population needs to be controlled, inflation needs to be brought down and many more.
The fact that US props up countries, to do the balance or counter balance is not new. us had used this policy to work with Pakistan in order to keep the Soviet influence in check in Afghanistan.
I do like the pace at which the Indian economy is growing, but it will take more time for this development to get actually translated into a rise in the living standards of the general public in India.
Re: China has encircled India from all sides - India should be worried ...
^ agree the US wants to keep counter balance by keeping china in check it does not want china to come out of region to become dominant super power that is why india is there :)
I doubt china can match the US in terms of world domination because it doesn't have thousand military bases around the world like the US it does not have same level of influence.
Re: China has encircled India from all sides - India should be worried ...
People in this site are hard to swalloe. True, India is nowhere near China...look at the issues India has :
Curruption
Infrastructure
Kashmir issue
Naxals / Maoists
Overpopulation
Trade Deficiet
and Yet it is managing to grow by 8-9% every year, second fastest after China !!
Every hurdle mentioned above, if removed, will add 2% to their GDP growth (Infra alone will add 3-4%).
Good post. But if we educate every Indian to get rid of all the final vestiges of caste based untouchability, that one thing will solve most other problems we have in India.
Politicians are corrupt due to caste manipulations; which in turn slows down trade, infrastructure...thus leading to uprisings such as naxals and communists.
The Kashmir issue however has traditionally been fuelled by elements from across the border and it is well on its way to get resolved by itself as Pakistan realizes its folly; After decades they have now finally realized and published for the first time that India is not their first threat and that it is their own domestic terrorism.
Which leaves us with the over population - I simply cannot see how that problem will be solved. May be economic progress and literacy will contain this 'over productivity'!
Re: China has encircled India from all sides - India should be worried ...
^Kashmir does want any part of india nobody need to fuel anything its funny you seem to think india does not have terroist activity of its own in balochistan or bombings in pakistan oh thats right pakistan bombs itself is your line nice joke.
Re: China has encircled India from all sides - India should be worried ...
^ I take it you are one of those who'd like to believe that the terrorism and the shia-sunni bombings happening inside Pakistan are foreigners' work. Guess zaid hamid has made a convert!

On paper means nothing lives cannot be eqauted on peices of paper.
I would rather India, China and Pakistan all lived in peace how many more wars do we want?
Besides have we people not got anything better to argue over than who is mightiest or strongest... let me be clear no country is superior to another so long as both countries are states backed by the people.
And often small nations are not to be looked down upon either, we should all be a little more grown up i think....
I mean in the time i was away i changed much and had forgotten how silly these GS arguements can be... how many threads are conflict related?
Re: China has encircled India from all sides - India should be worried ...
when I used to play galee-mohalla cricket in my teens, best way to get popularity in the area was to challenge TOP TEAM of the area and then beat the crap out of the marketing campaign that we have challenged the TOP TEAM blan blan blan, only to be thrashed by that top team hands down.
But hey, it was successful marketing strategy to get sponsors for our team eh?
Re: China has encircled India from all sides - India should be worried ...
On paper yes. Not in ground reality.
If only reality on the ground reflected what was on paper. China seems to be well beyond India in all respects. Not much in the way of competition as far as the Chinese are concerned, but im sure the Indians are deluded enough to believe otherwise.
China's real competition now is in the US, potentially.

Time to be a better neighbor, India. If you don’t, China will
Nowhere has China been more assertive than in South Asia. In a strategy it calls the “string of pearls,” China is building ports and infrastructure in Bangladesh and Pakistan; digging up minerals in Pakistan and Afghanistan; and refining hydropower in Nepal and Afghanistan.
According to the International Monetary Fund, China’s trade with India’s neighbors totaled $16 billion in 2008, growing at 14 percent annually. India’s regional trade was barely holding steady at $11 billion.
