Re: china grass pudding

hey

whats china grass?

Thanks for reminding me about it. I’m gonna make some too.

That’s how my mom makes. It’s ridiculously easy and tastes delicious!

Heat half a litre or so of milk and once it comes to a boil, add sugar and crushed pistachios to taste. Snip china grass strands into tiny pieces, so they dissolve quickly and easily, and add it in milk. It should be about 3-4 TBsp of china grass. Stir until it dissolves. Take off the flame, let it cool, and then put it in fridge till it firms up.

Enjoy :biggthumb:

China grass is another name for agar agar which is a very typical and common gelling agent used in Asia.

Yup, we make it every Ramadan.. boil milk with sugar and flavor it ( my cook uses almond essence) and disolve some China Grass in water and add to the milk mixture. Chill it..

Re: china grass pudding

thank u so much... gina what packet do you use... give me the brand name pleasee... thanx for the offer i will pop in sometime i dunno wen... :(

I've found a recipe for it in a cookbook I have so might give it a whirl.
Considering that agar agar is a gelling agent can it be used to make jelly? I'm just thinking I have many recipes for cool jellies but never make them due to the gelatine required to set them (I've heard you can get suitable for vegetarian gelatine but I've not come across it-yet!).
