BEIJING: China on Tuesday tried to be deliberately subdued in its reaction to the visit of the Dalai Lama to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. The Chinese foreign ministry restricted itself to expressing strong dissatisfaction with India on the issue.
Indian foreign ministry officials were expecting a stronger reaction from the Chinese government after the state-run media accused New Delhi of orchestrating the Dalai Lama visit. The local media quoted an expert with a government-run think-tank saying the visit was organized by the Indian government to further strengthen its case on the border dispute.
“The Indian side allowed the Dalai Lama to visit the disputed eastern section of the China-India border regardless of China’s grave concerns, and China is strongly dissatisfied with this,” foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang said at the briefing.
Qin said China firmly opposed the Dalai Lama’s visit to the region. The visit “fully exposes the Dalai Lama’s separatist nature.” Qin said. “His attempt will not succeed,” he said.
The recent meeting between Prime Minsiter Manmohan Singh and Chinese premier Wen Jiabao is believed to have had a positive impact on Beijing’s approach towards India, sources said.
The subdued statement is also the Chinese way of expressing appreciation for New Delhi’s decision to disallow foreign journalists from covering the visit. By doing this, India has shown it was not interested in defaming China on the global scene and Beijing took the hint, sources said.
The Chinese foreign ministry waited for the routine briefing on Tuesday instead of reacting to the visit on Sunday. This is a significant show of patience after weeks of angry statements from Chinese officials denouncing the Tibetan leader’s plans for visiting Arunachal Pradesh.
China also wants to give the impression it is able to manage its relationship with India at a time when US president Barrack Obama is due to visit Beijing later this month, sources said

Man these shameless indian media, what to make of it?
It is not a news, but self OPINION to get an ego orgasm.
No wonder, no one in the neighborhood takes this paper bully india seriously. :D
Re: China deliberately subdued in reacting to Dalai Lama visit
I don't know why on Earth Hindustan would want to provoke China? Even former President George Bush recognised that Taiwan was part of China when the Chinese Premier went to the US to visit him. Whilst, this year, just a few months back Britain has officially recognised Tibet as part of China.
Even when the Hindustan Navy admiral who retired this year spilled the beans; that thinking Hindustan could confront China was stupid.
But, why the Hindustani media continues to provoke China is probably because it's under strong Hindu Extremist influence.

Ah the usual - blame the media ........ why what happened .... just last month you were claiming that India is not going to allow Dalai Lama into Tawang :D
I don't know why on Earth Hindustan would want to provoke China? .
India is not provoking China .... on the other hand China wants to act like a bully .... telling India not to allow Dalai Lama to visit Tawang .... why shouldn't they alllow ????? He is a guest in India and he wants to visit Indian territory ... what is their problem !!!!!
Chinese are obviously childish about Dalai Lama. This poor man, a gentle soul can do no harm to mighty China. It is time for the Chinese to update their 60 years old failed policies towards DL.
Similarly Indians are childish about Pakistan and Kashmir. It is time that Indians too show “patience” like Chinese and update their 60 years old failed policies towards Pak and Kashmir.
p.s. In fact Pakistanis too should invite DL to visit Texila’s Buddhist site, show him utmost respect and get his help to rebuild some of the structures. It will be awesome to revive some of these old Buddhist institutions.

???? Why would you wanna turn Pakistan into a Mushrik country??

I'll make an adjustment to this otherwise wise statement to make it correct:
Chinese are childish about Dalai Lama.
Indians are childish about Pakistan.
Pakistan is childish about India.
The only adult around is the USA - Cheney, Bush and lately McChrystal are trying to fix that as well!

The Chinese are not being childesh about Dalai lama .... they care two hoots about him .... it is just a symbolic act. They know they cannot afford a war with India ..... all economies that are growing understand the effect a war can have on its economy. So instead they are using rhetoric .... this keeps the opposition on its toes .... but if they call your bluff ... you fall flat on your face !!!
Similarly Indians are childish about Pakistan and Kashmir. It is time that Indians too show "patience" like Chinese and update their 60 years old failed policies towards Pak and Kashmir..
India has been wanting to solve this issue for a long time now ... it understands that this issue is like an albatros round its neck .... once settled it will free it both politically and economically to go all cylinders firing.
This is not the case in Pakistan .... there is a (stiil) a very large and powerfull group whose survival depends on this issue being alive ...... Musharaf sahab had come on the stage as a a redemer ... he was the "great warrior" who was doing it for "Kashmir" !!!!!!! .... bade mushikil se peecha chudaya aap logo ne :D
*On the eve of the Dalai Lama’s departure for Dirang and Bomdi La in West Kameng, state officials asked him to convert a public address, which was scheduled to take place in Tawang, into a religious discourse. “Keeping the sensitivity of the area, we’ve advised His Holiness to amend his programme,” said a senior official. The direction came a day after Beijing reiterated its objection to Dalai’s visit to the area that China claims as its own.
Around the same time on Wednesday, Arunachal officials flatly rejected extension requests of inner line permits (ILPs) for reporters, including TOI’s, who had travelled to the border area to cover the two-day trip to West Kameng district. “We’ve got instructions not to extend ILPs beyond the Dalai’s Lama’s stay in Tawang,” said one official.*
Well they don't need to shout to deliver their message. They talk less and do more....
Dalai Lama visited Tawang ...... that the Chinese did not want ...... now he adjusts his program or somehitng else ... it will not turn back the clock ... the deed has been done.
If the Chinese had expressed their sensitivites about jounalists .... surely India would have been accomodating .... but their question was of the visit :D
Re: China deliberately subdued in reacting to Dalai Lama visit
chalo yaaron. this is just an instance of the retarded sense of 'supporting China at any cost' that a few people from Pakistan harbor as a due payback for all weather (should really be whether but....!) friendship.
BTW, hialrious that Daily SHow video. How the heck do they get away with that sortof thing? Fox should get fined for that
In Pakistan, our Islam is not so weak that an existence of a church, a Hindu temple, a synagogue, or Buddhist monastery would kill our faith...
We have enough of that already in Pakistan as you mentioned. No need to invite anymore! Would it really be wise to have China as Pakistan's enemy and then in return reap the fruits of some Maoist insurgency?
