Good move, it was always a liability to have this project with no India in the deal, Iranian gas was expensive and was not affordable at all, it was like PPP govt made that IPP projects in 90s because of which we are suffering, importing expensive gas can be a short-term solution for our problems but the cost of infra-structure is huge, plus since the deal is inked, no Bank including National Bank of Pakistan was willing to finance the project, it was China who showed some interest and now they also have backed out.
Saying it is due Wahabism or Shiaism is just show of Jahalat to say the least.

1.5 Billion or not, the project is dropped then it is good news,
2ndly, beggars are not choosers nor should they do the drama of fake ghairat...

Exactly, NS beggar is not chooser, so he dropped IP regardless of whether PMLN can prove it to be expensive or not... some people will defend any move of their beloved party/leader.

guess what, there is MuD-Sliding in Afghanistan today, the majority of that Bd-Khishaan province is non-wahabi, may be this 1.5b has to do something with it...
and there is more, IK have gone all bonkers, may be piece of bone is sent to him and he is unable to digest it and is out there to provide all the aid he can to the PML-N govt...
ofcourse do not forget to attend his rallies/dharnas and do take as many relatives as you can, IK have to put a good show otherwise no more bones for him...

china may have abandoned the IP project, but that doesn't mean Pakistan can. the contract has a huge walk-away penalty written into it, its a ball and chain now.
and the TAPI project is way way more risky than the IP one, where pricing is the only issue - piece of cake with the right diplomats sitting across a table for a few days.
whereas TAPI goes via afghanistan and once again relies heavily on india, neither country is going to cooperate without significant political gymnastics.

The subject says CHINA abandons project, you get excited and blame it on 1.5 bn given by Saudi to Pakistan for this and then you blame me for mixing things, i know it is hard to attend jalsas in 40 degree heat but one should not let carried away and blame others of what he is doing...

The IP project was singed during last days of Zard government to get some last minute election sympathy. Same fate as IPPs in Pakistan. 'Meray gaon mein bijli aai hai'... pallay 10 rupay nahee.

TAPI is also a non-starter considering the situation in Afghanistan. The only viable albeit difficult project that might be feasible is importing electricity through the wakhan corridor which is much stabler than Afghanistan.
