Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

After enduring **69 days **in a small, damp space 2,200 feet below the surface of the earth, the Chilean miners are finally being rescued.
By this moment, only one Chilean miner remains to be rescued out of total 33 after 69 days far below the surface of the earth thanks to a nearly flawless operation to end history’s longest underground captivity.

It began last night. The capsule lowering steadily thousands of feet into the dark and bringing up those trapped in the earth for 69 days. As the first came into the air, cheers went up, champagne flowed, cars honked in Santiago. After a quick reunion with friends and families, the miners go by stretcher to a regional hospital for tests and visits with dermatologists and ophthalmologists. The miners are likely to have picked a number of minor conditions during the confinement, but the most serious may be the psychological effects of their ordeal.

A big wow and Alhamdolillah!! :k:

Now my question is, what is the lesson for us to take from their horrible journey and finally success?! There was a time when nobody knew whether the miners are even there or no. Whether they are alive or no

Few things that I can think of are, never to loose hope. Just be there and wish and pray for the best to happen. Also, as a nation, Chile has shown a tremendous character, unity and courage. I believe this is another important thing to learn. We have to get united to get out of all calamities. Afterall after recent flooding, who else would know more about calamities than us.

I also read that most of the miners are determined to get back to work underground even after all this... simply amazing!

Actually, given the fact that in this instance the Chilean mining company and engineers managed to rescue the miners - I'd say, the best place for miners is CHILE. If you remember, there was a recent fatal mining disaster in the US, so I'd say Chile may be one better than the US.

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

I make the contention it should have never happened in the first place.

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

Agreed. But, in spite of the most rigorous safety precautions, disasters are nevertheless possible, the fact that this one had a happy ending is due in no small part to the grace of Allah and the work of the rescuers.

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

I am sorry that is not an acceptable excuse. There should be 100% security.

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

69 is the magic number.

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

i noticed the attitude and moral support that the president of Chile displayed during this ordeal and the fact that he remained on the location for such a long time to personally greet the miners as they came out. Compare this with the attitude of our leaders during the recent disasters in Pakistan and I feel like puking. Enough said....

Hats off to the rescue team, and to the courage and unity displayed by the miners. They are indeed heroes.

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

Lesson learnt: Don't get disheartened in face of a disaster. It might mean a two months holiday.

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

And what is 6.9? A perfectly beautiful number ruined by a period.

badabum bishhh

Is there any lesson to learn?

lots of ppl have benefited out of their pain and sufferings

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

Thats a Great effort by them

Even the president was there to welcome them :)

Re: Chile miners rescue after 69 days -- Is there any lesson to learn?

maybe our pakistani leaders can learn something from this? stand by your nation when a disaster strikes and not go strawberry picking or begging abroad?

i think one main reason the miners are so eager to get back to work is cuz their morale was kept high the whole time they were down under. they knew everyoen from their own family members to the leader of the country was there for them... in the last hours when the rescue mission went underway, their president was there for them.... knowing you are worth something, you will work even harder ... cuz you are emotionally satisfied.... now if their leader and ppl had done zip for them and tehy had gotten no emotional or mental support.. i doubt they would feel putting their lives on the line for the selfish country and its ppl.

imho ofcourse :)

^ well said khatoon-e-khaas :)
I bet Hollywood has already copyrighted the story and they would be soon working to make a movie out of it.
