Given that a Muslim man marries a woman of another faith, is it vital for the children to be Muslims? I read somewhere a while ago that a Muslim man MUST HAVE Muslim kids. Can anyone confirm or reject this please?

Given that the only reason why a Muslim man marries a non-Muslim women is because there are no good Muslimahs available, and that the non-Muslim women is chaste, religious, and believes in one god:
In the past children were raised under their fathers religion because he was the head of the house. Even if the mother was a muslim, if the father wasn't then the children wouldn't be.
The children would be raised in the fathers religion BACK THEN; it was a given. Nowadays things are different, I even think this has been ruled as void as men are no longer the head of the house.
However in the case it isn't void:
The conditions for marrying a Non-muslim women MUST stay the same:
- You have searched but could not find a good Muslimah. When looking for a marriage partner one must look for character, not looks.
- The Non-Muslim women is Chaste, Religious, and believes in one god.
If those things aren't fulfilled then your marriage will be seen as invalid and you will be committing Zina.

If a Muslim man doesn’t even know the ruling on this matter, then he clearly does not have adequate knowledge about Islam. Therefore, this marriage will be void because it doesn’t meet the criteria.

There are many many rulings some of which are in favour and some others are not. I hav seen both two links and i'm afraid to say that the information provided wasn't even close to the truth. Therefore I strongly disagree and glad that i haven't adequate such knowledge which nothing to have to do with Islam.
