Private schools in Texas and around are predominantly religious.. the very thing one tries to avoid.. they provide religious parents an opportunity to counter the 'communist' teachings in Public Schools.
These schools go out of their way to flaunt their ability to do anything and everything that's a taboo at public schools.. valentines, easter, Christmas pageants and what not.. that and extremely high tuition fees.
Public schools vary immensely according to the district you live in.. it's the kids your kids will go to school with that make or break the school more than anything else..
