Re: Childless couples look to India for surrogate mothers

From what I know this is a scientific concept and has nothing to do with Indian culture or religions of India. India is just doing a lot of these programs now because they have the women who are willing to "rent their wombs" if you may. Having a surrogate child in US can cost up to $100,000 and there are way too many government restrictions. In India the entire process can be done in about $15,000. I know this because we have close friends who opted for this route after being unable to conceive a baby for many many years, and after several treatments, including the traditional IVF method.

Similarly stem cell treatments are big in India whereas in US many such treatments haven't yet been approved by the government due to ethics and human rights issues.

Many couples from other countries now go to India for these kind of treatments due to the cost factor.

Whether surrogacy is a good way to go or not...well ask a woman who cannot conceive and wants her own baby...I wouldn't understand so I don't want to pass a judgement. Yes there are other ways to have a child...adoption, a very noble act. But everyone does what they can handle I suppose.

No traditional aspect is involved in it.Only financial sense and no traditional sense.

A couple of years back there was an instance where a ladies mother became surrogate mother when her daughter could not concieve by normal process.her mother came forward and became a surrogate mother. So it depends upon many factors.

Anyway I support it.It's individual choices.

:emmy:

hmmmm…u ve broad mind in this aspect :lajawab: but i really wanted to know the overall view of Indians community like i ve heard here ..

I don’t think so it is bcoz i ve talked here with common Indians and they don’t like it …anyway i m just waiting for some other comments …

:smack:

Of course they don’t like it..most people aren’t even sure what it is and most people who know may not want some unknown lady to carry their child..it’s a strange concept but again, there must be something that compels so so many couples to go this route.

Re: Childless couples look to India for surrogate mothers

^ Nope.the common Indians,Sannan referred can not be generalised to all Indians.People's opinions vary with education, exposure ,profession and even the place where they live.

why should one have any problem. Its their life do what they want to do? how its gonna effect me? we dont poke nose in other’s affairs.

Re: Childless couples look to India for surrogate mothers

There is nothing "traditional" or "cultural" about it, its simple supply and demand.
