Child Molestation ???

How big of an issue is this in our desi society ? Most people don’t talk about such issues but does that mean they don’t exist ? Do you or anyone you know personally know of anyone who has faced this and is too scared to talk about it ?

I am wondering more on the lines of children being tortured in their own families. I know the western culture sees several cases and the media does a good job of showing stories, but how strong of an issue is this within the Indo/Pak culture ?

PS> pls be serious on this discussion.

Hmm, well I know of more than one person whom this happened to, so it does exist, dont know how wide-spread though.

it happens alot but no one talks about it or does anything about it..I actually know of alot of girls that never did anything about it.

Are you guys serious? That’s really sad and makes me

what can i say, u live in a bad society....

its a real issue and being pushed always under carpet. I know 1 person who had gone through this terrible thing. she didnt speak about to her family for so long cause that person was so respectable. and that wasnt in pakistan, its a shame and its ruined lives. I want to kill all those ba$trad$.

I could not do anything about a certain incident although I had the opportunity. I was so engraged, I bought an illegal pistol from someone to do the job but everyone stopped me from doing anything. I still think about it I burn inside.

I dont want to talk about it either, but it will be there forever. It happened to someone very close to my heart.

/\

same here :)
I would not hesitate to kill some one.
I know it s wrong, but one should not pick on the weak

I've posted about this before.... I know a family in Pak who consist of grandfather and grandson, grandson's wife and 2 kids. Grandfather has a driver/helper who has waited on him hand and foot for many, many years. This driver is a homosexual pedophile and has molested many young servants and I think at least one family member. NO ONE addresses the issue. They keep quiet about it and try to prevent attacks. Grandpa ignores the situation because he doesnt want to lose someone who anticipates and takes care of his every wish. And grandson I guess doesnt want to make any "waves". This whole situation makes me ill. Grandson and his wife think that he would never touch their son. (yeah right) The sick pervert is just waiting for the little boy to ripen a bit. The wife dumps her little ones on anyone she can so the little boy is very good friends with the pervert. Its a nightmare waiting to happen. They are all so very good at avoiding the issue, changing the subject, not facing reality and justifying themselves that they cant see the danger to their little boy. I've suggested having a "gun cleaning" accident to take care of the problem once and for all, but of course I'm an over-reacting gora who "doesnt understand".

^ thats disturbing.

I know of someone close to me who went through the same thing.

Mama... that's sad but don't forget it happens in every society probably more so in the West than in Pakistan and even here it is brushed under the carpet, just read one of those women's magazines like Bella, Best, That’s Life, Take a Break or watch Jerry Springer or something. :p

brings bad memories to mind....nevermind...

i never said pakistan was a good place to live in

happens a lot unfortunately, sometimes by the most unexpected people....

Naadir, yes, sadly this tragedy does occur all over the planet. Pedophilia is not limited by race, culture or country. But I think in most places, once it is discovered that a child has been molested, the offender is vigorously prosecuted. I may be wrong but I dont think so. It seems like that is not the case in Pak although I could be wrong on that also since I have knowledge of only this one molester. It seems like people over there tend to ignore really bad situations hoping that they'll just go away.

Its a shameful act, condemnable by punishing the perpetrator right away. I wish we have mechanisms to overcome it whereever it happens. This is the worst of the crimes.
