This happens all the time in markets and even more on buses.
I really feel sorry for the girls who cant speak up and keep becoming a victim. Now there are some girls who really fight back and give a earful to such perverts. When i was In Pakistan going to University/College, I was asked few times by university/college girls to ask men move back in the bus because they were involved in same touching activity.
Now these losers dont only target girls but young boys are also their targets many times.
Re: Do girls still get touched up whilst shopping in Pakistan?
And if you think my story is bad, heres another one for you.
My 6 year old female cousin was constantly molested by her FEMALE teacher from school. Every single day she touch her privates. She finally told her mom after a few months and she went and slapped that woman and complained to the principal. It was just so sad and shocking.. How can a person molest a 6 year old girl? ESPECIALLy if you are a woman yourself!! disgusting.
Seriously my honest advice to all , donot trust female baby sitters either UNLESS you know them really well. Just because its a woman doesn't mean she can't be sick in the head.
You have to open minds of young kids ....tell them to speak up LOUD. Although our 7 years old is still too young but we have asked him to Speak loud or even SHOUT and we have told him that if something like this happens, its not HIS MISTAKE/FAULT (which is normally the fear on minds of young kids).

it's really sad. i thought that incidents of female teachers/baby sitters molesting kids happen only in the West. i'm sure these things weren't so common 5 or 6 years ago in pakistan.
Re: Do girls still get touched up whilst shopping in Pakistan?
Yeah they fired her. But we were all so disturbed for a very long time. Even now when i think of it, i get so angry and disgusted. Just imagine how sick a person can be to molest a 7 yr old girl whos your student. And who would have thought a female teacher can be doing this? We are always careful around our male servants, drivers, even male teachers but no one ever thinks that a woman is equally capable of molesting
Re: Do girls still get touched up whilst shopping in Pakistan?
Ms Hareem, I think in Pak, parents tend to hide thefact of molestations. The mother only complained to the principal? The matter was likely left at that, swept under the rug and not persued any further.
In the west, such an act would have caused the immediate and highly publisized arrest of the teacher. It seems more prevalent because its not tolerated and its highly publisized when such things do occur.

hmmmm....at least she got fired. But by now she's likely happily ensconced in a new school with new students to go after. Molestation is illegal even in Pak and should have been reported to police.

you know hareem, people have always been sick all over the world, not just west or in pakistan but everywhere. but now we are just realizing what child abuse is. Back in the day, no one told their kids about this stuff. But so many people have been through child abuse. Even by your own relatives but when you're a child you don't speak up and unless you are very close to your parents, you don't tell them.

Yes it's illegal but the legal system is so messed up. And the humiliation that comes with this kind of case. It would have been in the media and my aunt wouldn't want this kind of publicity for her daughter.

MamaOf3, the problem in Pakistan is that such incidents become a stigma for the victim, not that they should be, but its the way it is. People tend to hide such things more because of the longer term stigma and issues it creates rather than dealing with the immediate trauma of it. The society has been conditioned there to assign blame to the weaker or more vulnerable victim when they cannot rationalize the injustice that prevails in the system there. Some people do not do this but are more rational in their analysis of such situations but seldom are the number of such people.
Another problem is that women actually are accorded a lower status in society by all practical means whether it be in the books of law/religion or not. So providing them with justice also sinks in priority and in order to avoid pursuing it the easiest way out is to reprimand the victim instead of the villain.
All this is so sad but given the herd mentality of people there few individuals have the courage and wit to stand up for such things.
