Child Modeling

Would you allow your kids to model if approached by a talent scout?

Re: Child Modeling

it would depend on how demanding the schedule would be for them, and if they were old enough to let me know, whether or not that was something they wanted to try. if they were on board, i don't see the harm in letting them try it out. but would i let it become a full-time career or more than just a one-off experience? most likely not.

Re: Child Modeling

No

Re: Child Modeling

Nope. Even for the baby stuff I would feel uncomfortable, only because it opens the door for when she is older.

Re: Child Modeling

Agree with that.

Also I feel it is like sending your own child in the hands of pedophiles and pervs.

Re: Child Modeling

^ that's extreme, but ok, its your opinion.

Re: Child Modeling

No.
Somehow the images from dance moms and toddlers and tiaras pop in my head and I am so not ok with it.

Re: Child Modeling

No.

Re: Child Modeling

You guys think it could be that harmful for the kids?

Maybe a commercial or one off modeling experience?

Re: Child Modeling

^ Yeah, tho I know in and of itself it wouldn't be a bad thing. But I would put the money into a college fund or something. Not use if for our daily expenses (unless of course Allah na Kare we were in a desperate situation).

Re: Child Modeling

One parent I know got approached recently but her husband forbade it. He doesn't want to hear about it at all. :(

Re: Child Modeling

And yeah Sahar, you're right. THe money would probably go into a college fund or something.

Re: Child Modeling

Hmmmm..... I dont know. Theres juzt too many things yhat can go wrong.....all potential dangers...dont havta happen though.....

But i can totally see ure kids face plastered on a gerber baby food jar SGC:D

Re: Child Modeling

lol khawa, i know, right?
masha'Allah :)

if he was ever approached, i think there would be a heavy amount of research into the agency, their practices, their clients, their schedule, their requirements, etc., and everything would be done under strict and constant supervision.

i wouldn't opt for it, though, more than a one-off experience if he was older and more self-aware of how cute he was. i can see all sorts of ego issues taking hold that way if people were constantly praising him and telling him he was cute and then he grows up thinking he's all that lol. its one thing for his family to think that, but a whole another for the world to start telling him that and then him expecting special treatment because of it. that reminds me of the family guy and 30 rock beautiful people episodes lol.

Re: Child Modeling

No. and after watching the video someone posted abt child stars being molested a big, loud NO

Re: Child Modeling

At this age perhaps not. Maybe as baby.

Re: Child Modeling

I gave it a lot of serious thought but decided not to.

FYI - most modelling agencies do not accept children between the ages of 2 - 3 for various reasons.

Re: Child Modeling

Nope. Dont know what kind of creeps are out there.

Re: Child Modeling

Good question.

My daughter's classmate, 6 at the time, is on a billboard here locally for a dental clinic. Looks great and we all do awwww when be drive by. That's it. I wouldn't mind something like that.

Re: Child Modeling

Nope
