In Quran we read that Musa alayhis salam married a grown up woman (one of the two daughters of another Prophet). Musa alayhis salam had to serve that Prophet for a number of years before he would marry his daughter. The girl was an adult and not a child.
You read the whole of Quran, you don’t get the idea of child marriages or that a girl is adult at the age of 9.
But many Muslims who read a report in the name of hadith believe that 9 years is the legal age of marriage for a girl; however the same ‘believers’ wouldn’t ever marry their daughters off at the age of 9.
I have no problem at all that the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him married a 9 years old lady (Aisha radiyallahu anha); he was the Messenger of Allah and he was the Rahmatallil aalameen. But actually I do not believe that Prophet Muhammad s.a.w married Aisha r.a when she was 9. I believe Prophet Muhammad s.a.w married her when she was an adult. The reason why I do not believe in any such reports is the misuse of it by sections of Muslims living in different parts of the world. A few examples you can see in the above documentary.
Islam cannot teach anything which will open the door of corruption. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w is the role model for humanity. He can’t do anything which will influence people to go for child marriages.
It’s possible that some people who were interested in having child brides included something in the name of hadith so as to legalise child marriage in Islam. **Once again, the hard core preachers of legalising marriage of a girl at the age of 9, will never marry their daughters off at this age. **
Regardless of what is said in the Qur'an about the issue, child marriages have (unfortunately) been around for a long time and Islam would most likely not have influenced the presence of it in cultures around the world. Cultures around the world have justified a lot of their practices with religion regardless of whether or not the issue has been addressed by their religion. Culture generally tramples religious teachings, whatever they may be.
Also: what kind of mentality is a mentality where abhorrent practices are OK because a religious figure supposedly did it? Like..wtf.

You're right about the highlighted part.
However, Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was never recorded to have preached child marriage. There's no report about him saying he married a girl of 9 years of age. After a couple of centuries since his demise, some people reported quoting his wife, Aisha radhiyallahu anha that she said she got married at the age of 9. The issue has been controversial because we don't see child marriage being practiced in the Arabia of Prophet Muhammad's time. There's no evidence of child marriage being at least permissible in Quran. Therefore it's highly likely that some advocates of child marriage have fabricated or manipulated such reports permitting child marriage in the name of sunnah/Islam.

You got that right **Damras!
** **Why would Rasul Allah PBUH marry a young girl?
This is another myth spread to Give Rasul Allah PBUH a bad name Nauzobillah!.
Reference is to Rasul Allah PBUH marrying Aisha RaziAllaho Unha, his youngest wife.
The reality is as follows:
Aisha RaziAllaho Unha was the only young Maiden he married, the rest of his wives were widows and divorcees.
If he wanted young women, he could have married the youngest women, and people would have readily given their
daughters in marraige to him. But he didn't.
The first wife our Prophet PBUH married was 40 years old and he was 25.
He did not marry anyone while married to Khadija RadiAllaho Unha, they were together 25 years.
The second time he got married, he was 50 and he married Sawda RadiAllaho Unha who was around 80 years old.
One of the main reason he married Bibi Aisha RaziAllaho Unha was so this Lady could learn/memorize and transfer
all the details about what the Prophet PBUH said and had done during their lifetime and teach it to everyone after
his passing. Aisha RaziAllaho Unha was young and bright and memorized every detail.
As for the controversy surrounding the age. it is known that between the marriage contract and
Aisha RaziAllaho Unha**** moving to the Prophet PBUH household there is a 3- year gap during which she stayed
with her parents. ****
It is also known that the Meccan period lasted for 13 years, and the famous biographer Ibn Ishaq lists the name of
Aisha RadiAllaho Unha amoung the very first early persons who accepted Islam in the very few months of the
Prophet PBUH's mission.
If we are to add a minimum age of Aisha RadiAllaho Unha to understand what she was accepting,
say 4+ the 13 years in Mecca + 1 or 2 years in Madina Munnawwarah, it adds up to 19 years and
not to 9, which is the number reported by Bukhari.
While the above is more than enough, it is noted also that many historians have debated the age of
Aisha RadiAllaho Unha when she married the Prophet PBUH. One is that some say that
Aisha RadiAllaho Unha died at 67 years of age and it was 50 years after the Migration,
that also proves she was 19 when she got married.
