Re: Child Brides
I've recently been to a marriage where the bride was 17, so no, I don't see anything wrong with it. Being married and continuing education are not mutually exclusive.

Re: Child Brides
Alright any reasonable person would see that marriage and continuing education are not mutually exclusive, and hence nothing to be concerned about if the girl is say 17.
The case I spoke of , the girl had done her O levels and there was no apparent need for her to continue with education according to them.
Re: Child Brides
O levels is what age?
Re: Child Brides
Personally I wouldn't want my daughters to be married until they've received a good education...as in a formal degree of their liking. That means they have to be around 22-23. The reason for that is that a woman needs to be self confident, feel self worth, and be mature to handle the responsibilities of a marriage. And yes, educating my daughter is a priority. She will get married eventually.
Re: Child Brides
i know child brides as young as 12 and 8 yrs old. just too sad

Well that's a separate issue then. I can have my views on what's practical/important but any family will have their own priorities, which may or may not coincide with mine.

Equivalent to high school iirc, so 15/16 I would guess.
Re: Child Brides
some girls look much mature than their age..... its ok to get married as soon as they get suitable proposal
Re: Child Brides
I don’t see any issue in marriages at the age of 17 or 18. I believe that girls in young age easily adjust in their susrals… When girls are mature enough say 24 or above 25 yrs old.. they become stubborn to change their habits and having problems in adjusting in their susral. Its my personal point of view ![]()
One of my cousin get married at the age of 18 or 19.. and she completed her education after her marriage and son. So its upto a girl and her in laws how they manage. I think if girls get married at young age and she wants to continue her studies then they should discuss this with them first. But it doesn’t mean that every girl should get married at young age. I am talking about those cases where they have good proposal for her.
Yes but before 16.. its too early.
Re: Child Brides
i agree with what you said. and this is what elders say too.
your overall posts makes perfect sense aswell (Y)
Re: Child Brides

15/16ish
Re: Child Brides
16 years old girl is no longer child.
In my opinion, it is too early to make her responsible of new relationship.
Re: Child Brides
Girls age 16 and above are not considered "child brides" in any society as far as I know.
pakistan main tou 25 saal kee bhee apne aap ko child bride hee samajhtee hai. har koi nunna munna hai. Froget about bride, sometimes her mother also acts like a child MIL. I've seen cases in my family where dulhan kee amma is calling dulha kee amma 'aunty' .. I mean what the heck. Insecurity kee bhee had hotee hai

Re: Child Brides
Many people don't find the idea of 16/17/18 year olds getting married, but there was certainly a time when these teenage girls were quite mature for their age, like back in 30's, 40's 50's etc (without going so far back in time) We at the end of the day are the products of our environment , today sometimes even 25 year olds don't seem mature enough for marriage and responsibility and the commitment that comes with it. So its all about how you groom your children.
Re: Child Brides
I'd consider a girl 15 or under a child bride.
Re: Child Brides
I think they're still child brides if they're under the age of 18 because theyre not in the mental mind frame to be considered an adult regardless of age. Under 18 is too early i think. After 18 is when a girl starts getting sensible and thinks in the mind of an adult. I dont agree with child brides at all.
